Wild at Home
The Minnesota Wild have vaulted themselves right back into this series with an impressive 4-0 win in Game 3. They're now a perfect 4-0 at home in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and are now an outstanding 30-15 overall at the Xcel Energy Center this season. After being the brunt of a plethora of media criticism, Ilya Brysgalov was solid in Game 4 stopping all 19 Chicago shots on goal to earn the shutout. The Wild have also seen just 15 of their 45 home game go over the total this year. Minnesota has gone 12-2 this season at home following a home win. The Wild have gone under the total this season in 17 of 24 games following a game in which 4-goals or less combined were scored.
Champs are in Bounce Back Mode
The high scoring Blackhawks were frustrated in Game 3 by the tight checking of the Wild. Not only were they shutout, but were also limited to 19 shots on goal. The 19 shots tied for their low on the season. The only other time that occurred was also at Minnesota back in early December. Although Cory Crawford wasn't terrific in Game 3, he's having an outstanding postseason for a 2nd consecutive season posting a stellar .929 save percentage. Chicago has gone under the total in 9 of 11-games this year playing with same season revenge stemming from a road loss.
Let's review the betting trends before making our hockey pick: any team (Chicago) coming off a shutout loss, that's played 5-games or less in the last 14-days has gone 'under' the total in 34 of 45-games (75.6%) during the last 5 seasons.
