We’ve isolated one game on the NHL board tonight that is the best puck-line value. Take the time to read out insightful article on the game between Chicago and Edmonton.
NHL Puck-Line Value in Hawks/Oilers Affair
The Edmonton Oilers will host the Chicago Blackhawks this evening at 9:35 PM ET. I’m going to be examining where the value is on the puck-line in this game. According to the NHL odds at Bookmaker, Chicago is -1.5 (+135), and Edmonton is +1.5 (-160) on the puck line. Since the start of the 2013-2014 NHL campaign, Chicago has won all four of their games versus the Oilers, including a 7-1 win at Edmonton this past November 22nd, and outscored them by a cumulative score of 15-8 in those four encounters.
Hawks Continue to Win
The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a 4-2 win at Minnesota last night. They’ve now won 20 of their last 27-games. The Hawks will be facing an opponent (Edmonton) tonight that’s converting on only 13.1% of their power play opportunities this season. Chicago is a terrific 22-5 against the money line the past two seasons against opponents that are successful on 14.5% or less of their power play chances. Chicago is among the best penalty killing teams in the NHL. Their opponents have cashed in on a paltry 9.9% of their man advantage chances against them.
Oilers are Consistent Losers
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a 4-2 home loss at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings in their previous game. Edmonton has gone a horrific 1-13 this season following a home loss, and has an atrocious -1.9 goal per game differential in those contests. That statistic should come as no surprise, since the Oilers have won only three times in their previous twenty-six games. As a matter of fact, the Oilers are at a -1.2 goal per game differential on the season, and have allowed a whopping average of 3.4 goals per game. During the Oilers previous five games, their opponents have gone 7-for-20 (35%) on the power play.
The Blackhawks are clearly the superior team in this game, and will be facing an opponent which continues to reach new heights of franchise futility. I don’t see much changing in the regard tonight, when one of the best teams (Chicago) in the Western Conference, collides with the unquestionable worst (Edmonton) side. I’m going to be taking the visiting team in this contest on the puck-line as one of my NHL picks for Friday.
NHL Pick: Chicago -1.5 (+135) over Edmonton on the puck-line at Bookmaker.
