Maple Leafs have scored two goals in their last two games against Washington and Tampa Bay. They'll face the Pittsburgh Penguins who have cashed ‘under’ tickets in nine of their last 13 road games.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Toronto Maple Leafs

I thought we’d see more 6’s on this one but with the Leafs current power outage most books opened this number at 5.5. Luckily there are two books that offered the number I want so off to Heritage, as we go to grab their total and generous -105 vig. While there, make sure to take advantage of their 50% cash back bonus offer.

After three impressive road wins the Maple Leafs washed that down with two horrible performances against the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning this week, losing both by a combined score of 8-2.

If you've been listening to Toronto hockey platforms you would have thought that the Leafs have already clinched the number one seed in the East but the reality is they are still fighting for their playoff lives after those setbacks.  As of now, Toronto holds a slim one point advantage over the Tampa Bay Lightning with two to play but does hold a golden game in hand over the Lightning with that game being tonight.

I’ve said this 100 times.  Bet with what you know, not what you hope will happen.  What I know is when the Leafs should have been inspired the most, with a playoff berth on the line, they were completely outplayed. Why would I anticipate a better offensive effort against the top team in my power rankings.

Granted the Penguins don’t have a lot to play for except pride but defense is about effort and although they will have some roster changes I expect Pittsburgh to play well defensively in front of Marc-Andre Fleury. The Pens will limit the amount of minutes their depth player, who have become top line players, will play tonight.  Earlier today the penguins recalled Kevin Porter and Tristan Jarry from Scranton so the evidence tells us that there will be some key scratches.

There was also the small issue of Nazem Kadri missing the Leafs morning skate for an undisclosed reason.  No matter what that is, I like to take advantage of those things because key players missing morning skate’s don’t always result in offensive cohesion or positive  although Kadri is expected to still be the third line center tonight.

Too many unclear elements that need to be cleaned up before I consider the Leafs an ‘over’ team especially against the Pens who are looking ahead to postseason.
