An Atlantic Division showdown highlights the NHL slate on Wednesday night when the Florida Panthers travel to Scotiabank Arena in Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. Here is our Panthers vs. Maple Leafs prediction based on the best NHL odds.

Finding themselves in a bit of a tailspin, the Panthers are mired in a four-game losing streak and are three points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot. The Maple Leafs were amongst Florida’s recent conquerors, as Toronto ran roughshod over the Panthers 6-2 last week.

The Maple Leafs, who have alternated wins and losses over their past five games, booked their seventh straight trip to the postseason when the Panthers lost to the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.

Can the Panthers right the ship and keep pace in a crowded wild-card race? Or will the Maple Leafs continue to kick them down the Eastern Conference playoff ladder?

Here is our best Panthers vs. Maple Leafs prediction (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

In a matchup between two top-10 scoring teams, I expect a crooked number up on the scoreboard. The Panthers average 3.45 goals per game, to the Maple Leafs’ 3.42, and Florida has a hard time keeping the puck out of their own net, surrendering an identical 3.45 goals per outing.

Toronto has combined with their opponents to score seven-plus goals in five of their past six games, while Florida has achieved this feat in five straight games. In fact, when these two teams clashed in Sunrise last week they combined to light the lamp eight times.

I envision a scoreline such as 4-3 or 5-3, with the Maple Leafs emerging victorious.

With basically every sportsbook offering -105 for Over seven total goals, FanDuel’s goal total of 6.5 stands out to me. There’s definitely some value in this bet, especially when you consider how many seven-plus goal games these two have had recently.

Panthers vs. Maple Leafs odds analysis

The Maple Leafs opened as a -143 moneyline favorite, and the line sits between -145 and -150 depending on the sportsbook. Those looking to back the underdog can snag the Panthers as high as +125 at PointsBet and DraftKings.

I’ve already addressed the Over/Under. Virtually every sportsbook lists the goal total as seven, with most paying out at -105. FanDuel, however, is offering a goal total of 6.5, so it’s definitely a safer bet for the Over.
