At only -120 in some spots the public is backing the popular Blackhawks but champion handicapper explains why his readers are going to get some Panther home plus money

Tonight, it’s off to BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida as the Chicago Blackhawks look to extend their 8 point lead in the Central Division while the Panthers are just about out of the playoff discussion with nine games left.

There are two teams in this league that I continue to scratch my head when I see their opening number. One is the Boston Bruins who are always over-priced, the other, the Chicago Blackhawks who seem to always be undervalued. Tonight the Hawks are as low as -120, with that being said, we’re backing the Panthers but I had hoped it would be at a better price.

I like to think that the team I’m betting has some motivation on their side and I’m not sure I can say that if I was backing the Chicago Blackhawks.  The ‘hawks have a comfortable lead in the Central and now being asked to get up for the Panthers who are probably not going to make the playoffs.

Weather will also be a factor as Sunrise will come in at a sunny 80 degrees weather which will be a nice change considering the Blackhawks just played a home game where the high will barely scrape 50 degrees. With all these factors it seems like the environment is ripe for a letdown, especially with Chicago’s next four games coming against teams that are entrenched in the playoff race.

Despite the fact that Florida will most likely not participate in this year’s postseason it doesn’t mean there isn’t talent on Tom Rowe’s team.  Jonathan Marchessault who has 25 goals has been a pleasant surprise because he was never viewed as an offensive threat in Tampa or anywhere else.  Vincent Trocheck and Aleksander Barkov could hit also hit the 25 goal mark.

Don’t forget this little nugget between these two teams.  The Chicago Blackhawks are what the Panthers strive to be. It’s anybody’s guess what Dale Tallon’s real role is in Florida but his role in Chicago was clear as he created the blueprint for the Blackhawks success, so much so they put his name on the Stanley Cup.

Believe me, this is a game the Panthers want desperately and they’ll get it.
