There are 11 games in the NHL on Saturday and we’ve got our NHL picks for your lined up, on the totals, also check out our separate article with puckline picks for Saturday night.
New York Islanders vs. Detroit Red Wings
Odds: Red Wings -125
The Islanders and Red Wings are both hot on NHL betting odds, but are coming off a loss, so Saturday’s game is a chance for one of them to rebound and get on track. Taking a closer look at who the two teams have played, it looks like the Isles hot streak is more credible than Detroit’s. Yes, the Red Wings have won six of seven but two of those wins came against lowly Buffalo, and a couple of others came against the struggling Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers. The Isles have recently picked up wins against the New York Rangers (twice) and Pittsburgh Penguins.
While the Isles are appealing here as a dog, the better play is the over. Detroit has played a ton of high-scoring games without Jimmy Howard in the lineup as they’ve seen at least six goals in five straight games and their contests have averaged 8.2 goals per game in that span. Isles games have similar been high scoring, averaging 8.4 goals per game over their last five. Take the over with your NHL picks.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers
Odds: Rangers -220
The New York Rangers have been one of the league’s best defensive teams this month as they’ve allowed a measly 2.00 goals per game. That puts their average as the second-best number in January. The key to that success is goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who has a sparkling 1.84 GAA and .943 save percentage this month. He has played very well against the Hurricanes in his career, going 19-9-1 with a 2.13 GAA and a .924 save percentage. What should make his job easier on Saturday is the fact that the Hurricanes don’t score a whole lot on the road. Their 2.04 GPG average in away games is the second worst number in the league.
That being the case, take the under with your NHL picks in this spot.

Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets
Odds: Jets -135
The Dallas Stars have had some issues in net this month as Kari Lehtonen has been struggling. On the month, he’s posted a 3.40 GAA and .886 save percentage, which is quite lousy. The Stars are giving up 3.26 goals per game, which is the fourth-worst number in January. As a result, they’ve played a lot of overs as their average game score this month has been 6.32 goals per contest.
The Jets offense has been somewhat quiet the last two games (five combined goals) but even with that, they are still averaging 4.0 goals per game over their last nine contests. They have seen at least six combined goals in a game in seven of their last nine outings, so we’ll look for that to continue. Take the over.
