Two streaking Eastern Conference teams will clash on Saturday when the Ottawa Senators visit the Boston Bruins. It will be the final day of NHL action before the Winter Olympics freeze, so only one of these teams will stay hot heading into the break for our NHL picks.

Free NHL Picks for Canucks vs. Maple Leafs

The Ottawa Senators Can Win Because…

They are 4-1-1 in their last six and are playing very well these days. Their offense has been clicking and when the Sens are scoring, they’re worth a look on the NHL odds. They’ve scored three or more in seven of their last eight games and they haven’t had many problems scoring against Boston. They’ve won three of four in the series and they’ve scored exactly four goals in each of their three wins.

Given how big of a dog they are, how they’re playing right now and how they’ve fared in this series, they might be worth a look with your sports picks.

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because….

They dominate this series at home. The Sens may have won three of the last four but Boston has won seven of the last nine meetings when they’ve been the host. They’ve also won 10 of the last 13 meetings overall.

The Bruins are in the midst of a pretty good stretch right now as they’ve won six of their last eight games. Their offense has been firing on all cylinders as they’ve averaged 3.88 goals per game during that span. The Sens are not a good defensive team, so they might have trouble keeping up here.

Outlook & Pick

The Bruins are laying quite a bit here but when you look at how they’ve played in this series over the last few years, they’ve had the upper hand. However, in the last four meetings, the Sens have been the better team. Both teams are also playing pretty well right now, so that makes it even trickier to handicap the line.

Instead, I’ll go with the over for my NHL picks. Both teams are scoring at a healthy clip and that should continue here.
