The Nashville Predators are coming off their worst loss of the season after falling 4-0 to the St. Louis Blues. Will they be able to bounce back and be our NHL pick against the Senators?

Momentum
Nashville will not have momentum on its side when they host the Senators on Tuesday night following their worst loss of the year and having dropped four of their last six games. The Predators will play their next four games at home but will be in tough against an Ottawa team that has been very good on the road this season.

The Senators are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss against the Carolina Hurricanes but they have really struggled at Raleigh in recent seasons and they still hold a 5-1-1 record on the road this season. Ottawa will return home for five straight following this date with Nashville so look for them to lay it all on the line as they try to get back on track as the visiting team.

Projected Starting Goalies
Andrew Hammond got the start for the Senators in their loss to Carolina so Ottawa will likely turn back to Craig Anderson for this contest. Anderson is coming off back-to-back wins and is 6-3-1 with a 2.72 goals against average and .917 save percentage this season,

Meanwhile, the Predators will also likely turn back to No. 1 goalie Pekka Rinne, who despite giving up four goals in his worst start of the season is still 7-2-2 with a 2.16 GAA and .919 save percentage. Rinne is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL and he will need to be at his best in order to keep the Senators’ offense from heating up.

Outlook
Nashville has been outstanding to open the year but they are coming off a tough loss to St. Louis. While conventional wisdom indicates they will come out with a sense of desperation as they try to bounce back, that could actually hurt them against Ottawa. The Senators have played a much looser game on the road than at home so far this year and as long as they are getting good goaltending, they will have a chance in every game. Anderson is coming off his best two starts of the season and that has to give you confidence if you’re looking at the NHL odds. He will be locked in against a Predators’ team that has averaged just 2.5 goals per game so far this season. Ottawa is a young team that is playing at a high tempo and if they stay out of the box, they should be able to give Nashville all that it can handle. The Predators were bound to cool off eventually and while everybody expects them to rebound on Tuesday night, it won’t be a total shock when the Senators find a way to grind out a win with a good chance this game goes past regulation.

The Sens have won four of six and even the games they’ve lost this season season, they’ve been close. Exactly 50% of Ottawa’s first 14 games have gone to overtime or the shootout, so look for that trend to continue as they bring their best versus Nashville as they try to gain some momentum with the upset before heading back home. Take them as a dog with your NHL picks.
