The Oilers are just a few points shy from being the worst team in the NHL while the Canucks have been one of the worst teams in the league over the last month.

The Edmonton Oilers Can Win Because…
The Canucks are likely to be without leading scorer Henrik Sedin. That’s a problem.
When you take a look at how the Canucks have played this month, they’ve been fairly lousy and the main reason for it is that their offense has disappeared. They are averaging a league-low 1.64 goals per game this month, which is simply not going to get the job done. Removing Henrik from the equation makes the Oilers job a lot easier. That’s why they’re worth a look with your NHL picks.
The Vancouver Canucks Can Win Because….
The Oilers do not play well in Vancouver. They’ve dropped six of their last seven games at Rogers Arena and 10 of 13 in this series overall. This is a team that’s 7-22 on the road this year; how can you possibly consider taking them with your sports picks?
The Canucks might be having a tough time scoring but they’re facing the best possible opponent to cure those woes. The Oilers are allowing a whopping 4.0 goals per game this month, which is the worst in the NHL. The Canucks have scored 16 goals in the last four meetings and that’s likely to continue given how porous the Oilers defensive situation has been.
Outlook & Pick
Keep in mind that both teams played last night, so that will affect the NHL odds. The Canucks should win but laying -200 with a team that’s been pathetic in January just doesn’t make sense – even if the Oilers are significantly worse. Instead, I’ll take the under as the Canucks are simply not scoring much these days. That should key a low-scoring affair.
