On a small schedule, we look to tonight's 'Total' in the desert to cash tonight's bet. The Arizona Coyotes and the Edmonton Oilers are going to light up the scoreboard tonight.

Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes

With our record at 2-2-2 in our last six plays, it brings on an important lesson on handling bankrolls. We've already have discussed the importance of not trying to catch a loss or playing too much when you are playing with 'house money' but what happens when boredom sets in.

That's what happens this time of year when the excitement of a new season has wore off and you feel like you've been spinning your wheels for a week. As we've stated before wagering is as much of a game of psychology as it is picking winners. Boredom can hurt your bankroll as much as losing because bettors stop being sharp handicappers. When I'm in this situation I always remember to stay strong because this is where most are weak. You have to ask yourself, will I give in to what the books want me to do and that's bet more to reach that feeling of being a winner.

There are stages that a bettor goes through, the wort being when a person has to win to pay off a debit. The best being when you've won a couple in a row and you are starting to feel like you've made some progress. I've applied these stages to my conversations with clients because I want them to be in the right frame of mind. I know when a person is desperate because they sweat games that were supposed to be low unit bets. This person shouldn't be betting at all. Gambling acts almost like a drug that gives you a feeling of knowledge when you win,
but like with any drug, it will take everything because it knows they are stronger both mentally and financially.

You must ask yourself who is going to be in control of your bankroll when boredom sets in.

Once again we'll get to see one of the biggest oddities in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes owning the Edmonton Oilers. Head Coach Dave Tippett owns a 25 game point streak against Edmonton. I anticipate the Oilers setting up a lot more traffic in front of 'Yotes goaltender Mike Smith. The focus must be getting more pucks to the net which they easily did in their last meeting as the Oilers outshot Arizona 42-23. With a combined 65 shots that's enough for me to take a chance on the 'over' when getting plus money from our SBR approved sportsbooks
