The Anaheim Ducks are right on the heels of the Pacifc leading Los Angeles Kings in the NHL odds boards. Games against teams like the Edmonton Oilers are points the Ducks can't let get away.

Edmonton Oilers vs, Anaheim Ducks
When you're 30th out of 30 teams in the National Hockey League things are going to change. The Oilers have already fired scouts, many coaches, and management. Now it's time to change the players. Players that thought they were going to lead this team to a Stanley Cup victory.

As far as the players are concerned we should focus on Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The trade deadline and the losing may be getting to the core of this team but when your organization drafts first four out of the last six years without results there has to be a time when you blow it up and build around Connor McDavid. Hall has 2 points in his last 9 games but he has 52 points in 61 games this year.

He's signed through 2020 at 6 million a year. Eberle, who lack size at 5-11, 183, has 8 points in his last 6 games and should end up with over 50 points this season with a poor +/-. Nugent-Hopkins had surgery on his hand January 21st and was expected to miss 4-8 weeks. We are at the halfway point so we should start to hear of his status. He is signed through 2021 at 6 million a year.

The point is when there is a cloud surrounding everyone that's not named McDavid it makes your team tight or afraid to make mistakes in fear that it could be their last. In the long run any trade would be a upgrade in the standings but we have to remember these guys have families to worry about so it's not always easy to just move. Unfortunately, the core of this team is not the problem but they become the solution when you're trying to obtain assets.

Betting Analysis
The reason the Oilers are at the bottom is simply because of goaltending cause by bad defense in front of him which is the root of all disasters. Only the Arizona Coyotes allow more goals per game than Edmonton. Cam Talbot is not a number one goaltender on a team that can't protect him. He will not win games by himself. With the Rangers Talbot was 33-15-5 but with the Oilers he is 12-22-3 with a 2.71 goals against average with a .911 save percentage. Reason is the Oilers haven't put defensemen in front of him. Oscar Klefbom is out with a leg injury, a big body at 6-3, 210. Brandon Davidson is a rookie who will only get better, Andrej Sekera is not physical and often is beaten by bigger forwards, Eric Gryba is a young, big guy who's out with a knee injury, and Justin Shultz is too inconsistent. These are the reasons the Oilers get beat on a consistent basis. The NHL odds boards aren't going to change unless they get defensive help now.

The Ducks are not the team that anyone wants to face let alone a team that's unable to deal with them. Anaheim has feasted on the wounded by going 40-15 against teams with a winning percentage under .400. The trend continues tonight. Add Anaheim as your sharp NHL pick.
