Two of the best teams in the NHL Western Conference collide on Friday when the Wild take on the Ducks. Ross Benjamin provides us with a revealing NHL betting preview article in this game which also includes a money line free pick.

Wild in Anaheim
The Ducks will host the Wild in their home opener on Friday at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The scheduled start time is set for 10:05 PM ET. According to NHL betting odds, the Ducks are a -150 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. Anaheim has won 6 of the last 7-games between these clubs, and the road team has won 8 of the last 11.

A Couple of Blanks
The Minnesota Wild has opened the season in an impressive manner with a pair of shutout wins over the defending Central Division champion Colorado Avalanche. They were a 5-0 winner at home last Thursday, and then followed with a 3-0 victory in Denver this past Saturday. They will enter tonight playing on 5-days rest, and that in itself is a real rarity during the regular season. Darcy Kuemper was in goal for each of the 2-wins, stopping all 46-shots on goal. The Wild outshot the Avalanche in those 2-games by a combined 82-46. Dating back to last season, the Wild have seen just 4 of their last 18 road games stay under the total.

Ducks Finally Fly Home
The Anaheim Ducks have started the season by playing their first 4-games on the road. After suffering a 6-4 loss at Pittsburgh in their season opener, they reeled off 3 consecutive wins over Detroit, Buffalo, and Philadelphia. The Ducks have no shortage of offense as they tallied 16-goals in their recent 4-game road trip. Cory Perry (4G-2A-6PTS), Ryan Getzlaf (2G-4A-6PTS), and Ryan Kesler (2G-3A-5PTS) are all off to a fast starts. John Gibson started in goal in their season opening loss to Pittsburgh, and since then it’s been all Frederik Andersen who has gone 3-0, posted a superb 1.95 GAA, and a stellar .928 save percentage. Andersen was a 20-5 a season ago with a very good 2.29 GAA.

Final Analysis
The Ducks will be looking to get out to the same kind of start at home that they accomplished last season. They went a scorching hot 8-0 in the first 8, and 20-2 in their first 22-games against the money line at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Although they were impressive in their only away game so far, the Wild still have a lot to prove in that regard. Minnesota went a combined 18-30 on the road during the regular season and playoffs a season ago. For tonight's NHL picks, I have avery small lean on the home favorite.
