NHL Wednesday Night Picks

Wednesday is a quiet one in the NHL with just four games on the card. We’ve got all of them covered for you, though, with three previews and picks below as well as the Columbus-Calgary game singled off in a full preview.

Check out SBRs Free NHL Picks: Blue Jackets vs. Flames

Minnesota Wild vs. Ottawa Senators

I’m not particularly interested in taking Ottawa in this spot. They have lost three of four overall and are just 4-7 at home this season. Although the NHL odds are -110 both ways, I simply can’t bet Ottawa knowing that they just cost bettors -165 on Sunday when they lost at home to Columbus. If they can lose at home to the Blue Jackets, they can lose at home to anyone.

The Wild are not a great road team – as evidenced by their poor performance in a loss in Montreal on Tuesday – but they are still the better team overall. I’d rather take a shot with them.

NHL Pick: Wild -105 at Pinnacle

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals

It’s hard to lay juice with the Penguins in this spot considering that they’ve struggled recently – lost four of six – while the Caps enter on a three-game winning streak. Pittsburgh is just 4-5-0 on the road while Washington is 8-3-0 at home. Although the Pens can obviously win this game, the odds makers are forcing you to pay a premium to bet them.

With the Caps being a slight home dog and momentum being on their side, I’ll take the value and add them to my sports picks on Wednesday.

NHL Pick: Capitals +104 at Pinnacle

New Jersey Devils vs. Anaheim Ducks

It’s an interesting contrast in this game as the Devils have won three of four while the Ducks have dropped four straight. However, the Ducks are a perfect 8-0-0 at home this season, which we simply can’t add the Devils to our NHL picks in this spot – especially since New Jersey has won just three of 12 road games this season.

Instead, I’ll go with the under as the Ducks aren’t scoring much these days (six goals in last four) and both teams are stocked with quality goaltending.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at Bookmaker
