Our NHL consultant provides us with three of his totals picks for Sunday. Go inside to read this revealing betting preview article detailing exactly why he’s opted for these selections.

Sharks vs. Blue Jackets 5:05 PM ET
Columbus has started to find their way under new head coach John Tortorella. They’ve scored 3 goals or more in each of their previous four home games. On a negative note, they’re allowing 3.6 goals per game on home ice this season. They faced San Jose once already this year, and came away with a 5-2 road win.

San Jose enters Sunday’s game having won five games in a row. Martin Jones has been red-hot in goal for the Sharks. However, with San Jose playing their second game in less than 24 hours, Jones will be given the day off after turning in a superb 38 save performance during a 3-1 win at Pittsburgh last night. Alex Stalock will make just his fourth start of the season, and he’s seen each of his first three go over the total. He’s been especially poor in his two starts on the road, evidenced by a horrible .842 save percentage in those outings.

I like this game to be a high scoring affair for one of my NHL picks on Sunday.

NHL Pick: Play on OVER the total of 5.0 (+120) at Bookmaker

Islanders vs. Canadiens 7:05 PM ET
The Islanders have gone 6-1-1 under the total in road games this season. Their power play has really struggled during its previous five games. They’ve converted on only 1-for-17 (5.9%) of their man advantage opportunities during that time frame. The Islanders are expected to go with Jaroslav Halak in goal today, and he’s 3-0-1 under the total in four road starts with a stellar .929 save percentage.

Carey Price will make just his second start in goal since returning from an injury that sidelined him for three weeks. Price has gone a perfect 4-0 at home this season with an off the charts .971 save percentage, and posted two shutouts in those outings. Similar to Sunday’s opponent, Montreal has gone a dismal 1-for-18 (5.6%) on the power play during their previous five games.

The NHL betting odds at 5Dimes provides me with a terrific price for this specific wager.

NHL Pick: Play on UNDER the total of 5.0 (+130) at 5Dimes

Devils vs.  Canucks 10:05 PM ET
The Devils power play has been very good this season, converting on 22.6% of their man advantage opportunities. New Jersey has seen just two of their first nine away games stay under the total.

The Canucks power play has been absolutely on fire recently. In their last five games they’ve gone a remarkable 8-for-21 (38.1%) with the man advantage. On a negative note, Vancouver has allowed 3 goals or more in each of their previous nine, and thirteen of its last fifteen games.

NHL Pick: Play on this game to go OVER the total of 5.0 (+100) at BetOnline
