We cover two match-ups for the NHL Thursday Night action! Find out where we've decided to place our money for our free NHL picks.

Nashville Predators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

According to NHL betting odds Toronto is -145 money line home favorite and the posted total is 5.5.

Both of these teams have been playing on the low side in recent games. The Predators have gone over the total in just 1 of their last 6-games. Nashville scored 2-goals or less in 5 of those past 6 contests. The Predators have failed to go over the total in their last 4 on the road. They’re just 24th in the NHL averaging a mere 2.3 goals per game.

The Leafs are allowing just 2.3 goals per game. The Toronto goaltending tandem of Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer has been superb. Prior to going over the total in their last 2-games, the Leafs had gone under the total in 7 of their previous 8.

NHL Totals Super System

Any road team that’s revenging a same season loss as a favorite, and they’re coming off a road shutout win in their previous game, has seen 33 of those 42-games (78.6%) go under the total since the beginning of the 1997-1998 season.

NHL Pick: Nashville/Toronto to go under the total of 5.5

New York Rangers vs. Dallas Stars

According to NHL betting odds Dallas is a -120 money line home favorite and the posted total is 5.0.

The Rangers have failed to go over the total in their last 4-games. They’ve seen just 14 of their last 52-games go over the total when facing a Western Conference opponent. The Rangers have allowed just 3-goals combined in their last 3-games. They’ve needed to be stingy defensively because they’re 27th in the NHL averaging an anemic 2.0 goals per game. The goaltending of Henrik Lundquist and Cameron Talbot have been terrific for the “Blue Shirts” so far this season. They’ve combined for 3 shutouts in the first 21-games of the year.

The Dallas Stars have allowed just 4-goals combined in their last 3-games. Kari Lehtonen has been a rock in goal posting a very good 2.01 GAA and .932 save percentage in 15 starts. The Stars have won 6-games in a row on the road. However, for some strange reason they’ve struggled at home. Dallas has scored 2-goals or less in 5 of their 7 home games to start the year.

NHL Totals Super System

Any team that comes off 3 or more road wins in a row prior to this game, and has a money line winning percentage of .510 to .600, versus an opponent with a losing record has seen 39 of those 53-games go under the total since the beginning of the 1997-1998 year.

NHL Pick: Rangers/Stars to go under the total of 5.0.
