Time to forge ahead to Sunday and today's NHL betting odds from the sportsbooks are anything but easy. There are in my opinion quite a few games which could go either way, making the choices tough.

Yet when push comes to shove, this hockey handicapper wants to place you in the best position to profit on a daily basis with NHL picks. The idea is not to play hero, rather, keep grinding away and unless I go 0-3 (god forbid), this will be my best week of the season thus far.

Here is what I have in store and the NHL odds are coming directly from SBR's Live Odds Board

Boston Continues Dominance of Devils
New Jersey's had alternated win and losses in their past 10 games until yesterday, when they fell to last place Anaheim 2-1 at home. The made it two straight losses for the Devils (16-17 SU), who have not been good or bad of late, rather just caught in being a middling team, which might be the worst place of all to be.

New Jersey does bring some positives to TD Garden, like a good 9-6 SU road record and they are 5-1 away off a home loss. Unfortunately, there are still skeletons on the Devils closet, having dropped 15 of 18 to Boston (18-13 SU), including eight of nine in Beantown.

After 0-3 start to the season and losing first five games at home, the last thing many Bruins fans thought was their team might be within a point of first place in the Atlantic Division with Christmas fast approaching. Yet with a victory tonight, that is where the B's will be. Boston has won seven of 11 home games after horrific start and oddsmakers made them -175 opening line home favorites. Though New Jersey is 10th in fewest goals allowed at 2.39, the Bruins are second in the league in scoring (3.26) and are 12-4 versus clubs giving up 2.55 or fewer goals a game this season.

Tampa Bay Holds Off Ottawa
Ottawa's 4-2 triumph on Tuesday pushed them over .500 for the season at 17-16 SU. Having dumped three in a row in the visiting uniforms, the Senators will attempt to do the same on the road at Tampa Bay.

Ottawa is 8-7-1 away from home, which is not bad, but the defensive breakdowns are mostly to blame, ranked 23rd on goals allowed (3.0) on the road. The Lightning (16-17 SU) might be able to take advantage of this or maybe not. In a baffling season-long scoring slump, last year's top scoring team is ringing up only 2.4 GAG, which is 23rd on the NHL. There have been recent signs of a resurgence with 10 goals in last three outings, but like everything with Tampa Bay this season, this is offset with 10 goals permitted at the same time.

The Lightning's schedule has not been too taxing lately and they are 35-15 playing only their second game in five days, which makes them attractive for sports picks at -155 and this is their best opportunity of the season to make a move, opening six-game homestand.

NHL Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning to Win
Best Line Offered: -150 at Pinnacle

Hard Not to Back Blackhawks at Home
Chicago (19-15 SU) came up big in Buffalo with 3-2 shootout victory, making them winners in six of eight. Seeing Chicago as only -150 home favorites appears a little odd, but there is good reason. The Blackhawks did play yesterday on the road as mentioned and while San Jose's 16-16 SU record is nothing to get worked up about, they are 12-6-1 away from home.

Nevertheless, Chicago is 13-5 SU at the United Center and is 7-0-1 on home ice against the Sharks in the last four years. The Hawks will have backup Scott Darling between the pipes, while San Jose is believed to have their top goalie Martin Jones playing, which also keeps the money line down. Even with this, I'll back the Blackhawks in their building against a team they know they can defeat.

NHL Pick: Chicago Blackhawks to Win
Best Line Offered: -149 at Heritage
