Just three games to look over for Sunday on the NHL docket. The sportsbooks have provided us the betting odds, thus it is just a matter of determining how we want to break these down for NHL picks.

Of course we know many of you are also extremely interested your NFL Picks today, thus I will cut to the chase and offer up my NHL picks for today.

New York Islanders Dig Deeper and Come up Winner
The Islanders defeated Columbus yesterday 3-2 in OT, finishing their road trip to and are now 17-13 SU on the season. New York have now played in five consecutive OT contests, with some ending in shootouts. While this sounds like it could a negative situation for the home team, prior to last night the Isles had not played since Tuesday, thus, realistically there is little reason to believe they should be that worn out.

In addition, after the game, there were several quotes from New York players saying they were fortunate to win, being able to have a two-on-none breakaway which resulted in winning goal and understanding they have to play better if they expect to win for a seventh time in eight games.

New York has won 10 of 16 home games, but New Jersey (15-14 SU) is no slouch in the traveling sweaters and is 8-5 SU. Since posting 10-3 SU record from Oct.18 to Nov.14, the Devils are 5-7 SU. They did win manage to win last outing against Detroit 3-2, but have not won consecutive contests since the 12th and 14th of last month.

The original NHL odds from Youwager had New York at -170 and they have slipped some with concerns about the Islanders effectiveness off a tough game, but they are 7-0-1 versus the Devils of late and this includes four home triumphs. They last played in same building in early November with New York winning 2-1 and New Jersey is 2-14 revenging a one goal the last two seasons.

Free NHL Pick: New York Islanders to Win
Best Line Offered: +133 at 5Dimes

Totals Play in St. Louis
Both Colorado (13-17 SU) and St. Louis (17-13 SU) got victories last night in somewhat convincing fashion and will try to build on those efforts.

The Avalanche continued to play good defense in stopping Nashville 3-2 and the Blues became the first team to shutout high-scoring Dallas 3-0. As a hockey handicapper, cannot help but notice St. Louis has put together just 12 goals in past half dozen contests. This is one more than Colorado has tallied in the same amount of games.

When doing further research, the Avs are 11-2 UNDER in road games when playing on back-to-back days since last season and the Blues are 10-3 UNDER on home ice during this current campaign. With the oddsmakers total at 5, I'll support the notion of a lower scoring affair and expect the red light not to be flashing often in the Scottrade Center.

Free NHL Pick: Avalanche & Blues to go UNDER the total
?Best Line Offered: 5 Goals (+105) at Heritage

Chicago and Kane Too Much for Vancouver
Patrick Kane's unbelievable season continues at the United Center against Vancouver (11-19 SU) tonight. Kane is the league's leading scorer and has registered a point in 25 straight games, which is the most ever by an American-born player.

His next milestone to reach is 28 games, held by four different Hall of Famers. Kane's club is after their fourth win in five games and the Blackhawks (16-14 SU) have won 11 of 15 at home.

Vancouver has won their last two contests, which helped them end a five-game losing streak and the Canucks beat Chicago at home 6-3 22 days ago. However, the Blackhawks have played three consecutive divisions tilts and if they are at home in next contest like tonight, they are impressive 21-3. Vancouver seldom is able sustain any success and is 7-19 after two or more victories.

Free NHL Pick: Chicago Blackhawks to Win
?Best Line Offered: -169 at BetOnline
