The first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs have taken some big-name casualties so we’re now down to the final four teams with the Penguins and the Ducks being the right birds on the ice on Wednesday night.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Pare Down to Final Four After Two Close, Thrilling Game 7’s on Wednesday Night

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are down to the final four teams now after the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim (Still Mighty) Ducks won crucial Game 7’s on Wednesday night, eliminating the top-seeded Capitals and Oilers respectively to advance on another round in professional sports’ most non-stop and unpredictable Postseason. The puck will drop on Western Conference Finals on Friday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim when the Ducks host the Predators in Game 1 of their best-of-7 series (NBCSN, 9 pm ET; ANA -115, 5o -135, JustBet) with the Eastern Conference Finals beginning Saturday night in Pittsburgh where the Penguins host the Senators in Game 1 (NBC, 7:15 pm ET; PIT -210, 5½u -123, Pinnacle).

Pittsburgh is (3.3 gpg) are 35-24-1 lifetime against Ottawa (3.2 gpg) in relatively high-scoring NHL games with the Penguins 6-3 vs. the Senators the L3 seasons and a perfect 4-0 against them at Home in Pittsburgh. The Ducks (2.9 gpg) and Predators (2.7 gpg) have met 62 times with each team winning 31 games, so, these teams couldn’t be any closer and protecting home-ice should be huge. The Ducks are 6-3 the L9 in Anaheim vs. Nashville with 6 of L7 games in the series going Over.

Rookie Jake Guentzel (14 points Postseason) and the Penguins opened at 8/1 to win the 2017 Stanley Cup at the SuperBook (last May 28, 2016), Mike Hoffman (100/1) and the Senators at 50/1—Ottawa rose to 60/1 by Sept. 5—the Predators opened at 25/1 with birthday boy Ryan Getzlaf (20/1), Corey Perry (30/1) and the Ducks opening at 12/1. Favorites are 35-33 in the NHL Postseason with the Under 31-25-12 heading into the next round.   Senators Repping Canada in Coming Conference Finals Which Start This Weekend

Senators Goalie and Masterson Trophy-candidate Craig Anderson helped Ottawa dismiss the Rangers in 6 games to make its first Conference Finals appearance since 2007, but it won’t come easy for the proud Québec representatives with the home-ice advantage experience with magician Sidney Crosby (6/1 to win Conn Smythe Trophy, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook), Evgeni Malkin (15/1) and the Penguins (+125 to win Stanley Cup, BookMaker) hosting Game 1 of their Eastern Conference series at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Saturday night (NBC, 7:30 pm ET) after Marc-André Fleury (30/1) and Pittsburgh ousted the still Cupless Capitals, 2-0, in Game 7 in Washington, DC on Wednesday.

Over in the Western Conference, there was also the obligatory NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs drama with Ryan Kesler (60/1) and Anaheim breaking an 4-game Game 7 losing streak, defeating Connor McDavid and a young Edmonton team, at the Honda Center in Anaheim as Goalie Jonathan Bernier (60/1) and the hosts overcame an early 1-0 deficit to advance. Even though Nashville is rested and Rinne is hot, backing the Ducks in Game 1 in Anaheim on Friday seems sage advice while Phil Kessel (20/1) and the Penguins should win Game 1 at The New Igloo.
