NHL Picks: Western Conference Future Odds
We have already discussed the Eastern Conference future odds; so today we will continue on with our NHL picks for the Western Conference and look at the best teams to be the NHL odds this season.
Los Angeles Kings: 4.5/1
The NHL odds makers are expecting the Los Angeles Kings to once again repeat their success as well as take the Western Conference crown, as +450 is the slimmest payback offered on the board.
The Kings made the playoffs as the 8th seed last season and caught lighting in a bottle, making a run to the finals, which ended with them hoisting the Stanley Cup to become NHL Champions.
This year’s team looks to be intact from last season, but will they have the same tenacity to make another run at the cup?
Vancouver Canucks: 5/1
The Canucks accumulated 111 points last season and had the best record in the NHL, easily winning the Northwest Division.
However, they went up against the Kings in the opening round and were quickly dismissed from the postseason in just five games.
They should have a chip on their shoulder this season, as they look shed the embarrassment from 2012, while also seeking revenge against the mighty Kings.
Chicago Blackhawks: 5/1
After a below average regular season, the Blackhawks earned the sixth seed in the 2012 postseason and then were quickly eliminated by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round.
That said, Chicago has a bevy of talent ready explode – especially on offense side of the ice; and if they can put it all together, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals this season.
Detroit Red Wings: 6/1
The Red Wings have become a staple in the postseason. In fact, last season they earned their 21st straight playoff appearance, but the big question this season is if the Red Wings will fail to meet their usual expectations or will the club notch its 22nd consecutive time reaching the postseason?
The Rest Of The Conference
The St. Louis Blues are next in line to win the Western Conference, as they have been listed as 8/1 favorites.
Trailing the Blues in the hunt for the Western Conference crown are the Minnesota Wild, who are 10/1 favorites, and the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks, who are both secured at 12/1 on the odds board.
After the Anaheim Ducks, who are 15/1 favorites, there is a major fall off, as the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Phoenix Coyotes and Edmonton Oilers are all 20/1 favorites.
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames round out the rest of the west and are 50/1 long shots to win the Conference this season.
