We’ve hit humpday in the NHL week and there are just four games on the card. We have individual previews of the Bruins-Canadiens, Blackhawks-Avalanche contests set up for you as well as our NHL picks on the remaining two games below.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets

Two slumping teams meet in this one as the Canucks have dropped 12 of 14 and are coming off an embarrassing loss. They had a 3-0 lead entering the third period against the New York Islanders on Monday and ended up losing 7-4. They’ve dropped seven in a row on the road and 12 of 13. However, the Jets are also in a funk as they’ve lost three straight and five of seven.

The Jets have definitely had more of a pulse over the last month but I’m still going to avoid them. Under looks like the best choice for our NHL picks. The Canucks have scored two or less in 10 of their last 11 and under has cashed in seven of the last 12 meetings.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Bodog

Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames

It’s hard to bet either side in this one. The Ducks have fallen on hard times and have dropped three straight and six of nine. That’s shocking for the team that’s been the best in the NHL throughout most of the season. Knowing that, it’s hard to lay -175 with them on the road. However, the Flames are one of the worst teams in the NHL and I see no conceivable case to be made for them here either.

Instead, I’ll take the under. The Flames aren’t scoring much these days and while the Ducks have been losing, goaltender Jonas Hiller still has a 1.63 GAA this month. He’s played well and should help key a low-scoring game.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Bovada
