Wednesday is a quiet night in the NHL with just two games. Let’s have a closer look at each and figure out what’s the best way to place your NHL picsk in both contests.

Ottawa Senators vs. New Jersey Devils

Two teams that have been awful this season will matchup in this one when the Senators visit the Devils. Ottawa hasn’t won back-to-back games in 18 straight but is coming off a win. They have just six wins in their last 16. As for the Devils, they are also coming off a win but that’s just their second win in seven games.

I’m going to keep this pretty simple. The series history dictates that the Sens are the better choice for your NHL picks. They’ve defeated the Devils all four times this calendar year and since they’re a dog on the NHL odds, I’ll take a shot with them. This game is really a tossup.

Pick: Senators +110 at Bodog

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Ranges

The Penguins won’t cost you much to add to your NHL picks in this one and that’s because of how many injuries they are currently dealing with. Their blue line is completely depleted as their top four defensemen (Kris Letang, Brooks Orpik, Paul Martin and Rob Scuderi) are all out. The forwards are missing Evgeni Malkin, James Neal (suspension), Beau Bennett and Tanner Glass. Yet this team has still won nine of 10.

At the end of the day, I need more of a payout to take the Rangers as they have lost four of five, have allowed an average of 3.7 goals per game in their last six and have only won six of their 16 home games. I’ll take a shot with the injury-riddled-yet-hot Pittsburgh Penguins team rather than the crappy Rangers in this one.

Pick: Penguins -121 at Pinnacle
