We’ve got a small card to work with on Wednesday with just four games in the NHL, so where should we look for the best NHL betting value? Find out what we have found.

We’ve separated the Toronto-Ottawa preview in a separate article, which means are three picks down below will hone in on the other three games on the schedule.

Record: 70-82 (-942)

Colorado Avalanche vs. Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks continue to play great hockey and the Colorado Avalanche don’t. Is there any other way you can really bet this game?

I did consider adding the Over to my NHL picks, but both teams are in a back-to-back situation after playing on Tuesday night. On top of that, the Avs have had trouble scoring recently. Colorado has lost five of six while averaging just 1.6 goals per game in those defeats.

I’m not going to lay all the juice with the Blackhawks, but I’ll lay the puck line and bank on them to win by two.

NHL Pick: Blackhawks -1.5 +150 at Bet365

San Jose Sharks vs. Calgary Flames

The San Jose Sharks appear to have turned a bit of a corner. They beat Colorado, then played well in an overtime loss to Detroit, beat Nashville and then fought hard against the Canucks. They find themselves in a back-to-back situation now in Calgary but I still like them more so than I do the Flames, who are two points away from being the worst team in the Western Conference.

Truth be told, this is a tossup and a game I’d rather not add this game to my sports picks, but since there’s nothing else to choose from, we’ll go with a slight lean on San Jose.

NHL Pick: Sharks at Bwin

Phoenix Coyotes vs. Anaheim Ducks

The Coyotes and Ducks will square off for the third straight time in what is a very rare occurrence. The Coyotes won the first two meetings by the exact score of 5-4 in shootouts but both games were in Phoenix. Now the venue changes to Anaheim and while the public will want to pounce on the Ducks using the “bounce-back” or “revenge” theory, they’ll have to lay anywhere up to -160 on the NHL odds to do so.

I think the over has to be the play here. Coyotes’ goaltender Mike Smith has been struggling recently as he’s given up 15 goals in his last four starts. The last five Coyotes contests have seen a total of 40 goals, so I’ll take the over in this spot.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at Pinnacle
