Wednesday will be a busy day in the NHL as it is the day of the trade deadline. A lot of moves have already gone down but expect more to happen as cutoff date approaches.

NHL Betting: Wednesday Picks

Here’s a look at the NHL odds line for Wednesday:

Record: 108-118 (-304)

Montreal Canadiens at Philadelphia Flyers

The Canadiens are rightfully favored in this game but I’m willing to take a shot with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are a home dog on the NHL odds but they’ve won the last four home meetings between the teams and six of the last seven overall. On top of that, Carey Price doesn’t thrive against the Flyers as he’s just 1-5-0 with a 3.38 GAA in his last six starts against the Flyers.

I’ll invest in the Flyers as a small underdog at home where they are 8-4 this season when the total is set at 5.5.

Pick: Flyers +115 at BetOnline

Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers

The snap-judge reaction here is going to be to bet against the Penguins with NHL picks as they looked horrible on Tuesday night in a 4-1 loss to Buffalo. It was their first full game without Sidney Crosby since it was announced he was out with a jaw injury. On top of that, the Rangers acquired Ryan Clowe on Tuesday so bettors will be expecting them to get a boost.

However, Pittsburgh plays pretty well against the Rangers and they are worth a look in this spot. The Pens have won six of their last eight trips to Madison Square Garden, where the Rangers are 11-8 this season. They are just 3-5 at home with a total of five while Pittsburgh is 13-4 on the road.

Pick: Penguins +102 at Pinnacle

Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames

I was skeptical of the Oilers when they hosted Calgary on Monday but after they blasted them 4-1, I’ll take a shot with them on Wednesday.

The Flames are dismantling their team for parts as Jarome Iginla, Jay Bouwmeester and likely Miikka Kiprusoff will all be gone by the deadline. It’s not as if Calgary was that talented to begin with, so this is a tough spot for them.

The Oilers have won four straight and are playing confidently right now. I’ll lay the small number with them on the road.

NHL Pick: Oilers -104 at Pinnacle
