New York Islanders @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The Islanders have been a reliable road bet recently as they’ve won four straight road games and five of their last six. That includes some fairly impressive road wins, including stops in San Jose, Minnesota and Boston.
The Leafs are coming off a disappointing 7-1 home loss to the New York Rangers. They are more vulnerable than the betting line indicates. You have to think twice before laying the -160 with your NHL picks here.

Calgary Flames @ Phoenix Coyotes
The Flames have decided they’re not going to be scoring goals any longer, which hopefully continues on Tuesday when they visit the desert. The Flames have lost eight of their last nine games but have scored just one goal in their last four games (entering Monday’s contest with Colorado).
They’ll be in a back-to-back situation on Tuesday and while the Coyotes have been a mess too (lost 10 of 12), they should be able to spank the Flames like they normally do when they visit (won three of the last four meetings in Phoenix).
Interesting stat to note: the Flames are winless on Tuesdays this season (0-6) while the Coyotes are 7-3.
Pick: Coyotes -1.5 +160 at Pinnacle
We’ll go back to the wishing well once more here with the Flyers, who we’ve been betting quite a bit – particularly on the road – over the last few weeks. They are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games and they’ve come through in four of their last five road games. The Devils have lost four of their last six games and three of their last four at the Prudential Center. The Flyers have already won there once this season and as a road dog on the NHL odds, I’ll add them to my sports picks to get the job done once more.
