Tampa Bay Lightning @ New York Islanders
Although the Lightning have definitely struggled without Steve Stampkos in the lineup, they’re worth a look against a New York Islanders team that’s hit rock bottom. The Isles have lost 12 of their last 13 games and simply have no answers these days.
Goaltending is the big difference between these teams as the Isles have allowed 118 goals this season, which is the second-most in the league. As for the Lightning, they have a rock in Ben Bishop, who is 17-5-2 with a 1.97 GAA.
The Lightning are 3-2-3 in their last eight but they’re a better team than the Islanders. With the NHL odds showing what is virtually a pick, I’ll take a shot with the team that’s been better this season.

Phoenix Coyotes @ Montreal Canadiens
I’ll add another Canadiens under to my NHL picks as they’re having a tough time scoring these days. The power has gone out in Montreal as they’ve scored just three goals in their last four games. However, they continue to play well defensively as they’ve only allowed four goals in their last three games.
Although Phoenix is an effective offensive team, they are more productive at home (3.53) than they are on the road (2.76). That’s why I’ll take the under.
Pick: Under 5.5 at Bet365
Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The Panthers are probably worth a look in this spot as they’ve been playing well and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been simply average. The Panthers have won three straight and five of six, and some of those wins have come against impressive competition like the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals. As for the Leafs, they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games and that includes losses to Buffalo and Columbus. They really don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt right now. I’ll take a shot with the Panthers for my NHL picks.
