The NHL alternates busy days with quiet days this week as Monday, Wednesday and Friday have three games or less while Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are stocked with 11 games or more.

Here’s a look at three matchups for Tuesday along with our free picks for each of the matchups.

Record: 79-90 (-602)

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Winnipeg Jets

The Toronto Maple Leafs look like a good value play on Tuesday as the NHL odds makers list them as a sizable dog in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg has not played well at home recently as they’ve lost five of their last six at home – including a loss to Toronto. The Leafs have been a great bet on the road all season long so we’ll stick with it.

NHL Pick: Leafs +119 at Pinnacle

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers

The Lightning have been in nose-dive mode since the start of February, so I’m not jacked up about adding them to our NHL picks. However, at a pick against Florida – who has been equally as bad – seems like it makes sense.

The Lightning have won just four of their last 18 but Florida has won just seven of 26 games this entire season. The main reason for this play is Tampa has already topped Florida twice this season. I think this game is manageable for them and they should be able to continue the dominance over their neighbor.

NHL Pick: Lightning -110 at BetOnline

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals

The Hurricanes have been playing well recently – even with Cam Ward sidelined – so I’m willing to bet them in this spot. Washington has lost two straight and has been very mediocre all season long – including at home where they are 7-6-0 – so I’m not particularly interested in laying -130 with them.

The ‘Canes are 6-1-1 in their last eight road games and have  won five of six overall. I like them in this spot.

NHL Pick: Hurricanes +120 at Bovada
