Free NHL picks for a few of Tuesday's largest matchups. Where do we believe the best value lies for your hockey betting selections tonight?

The Tuesday schedule features an odd lineup with a bunch favorites in situations where they are laying lots of juice. With NHL odds makers asking us to lay more than -150 with teams like Minnesota, Vancouver and San Jose makes me very nervous, so instead I’ll look at one road dog and a couple of totals.

Let's take a look at three games where thelines look to hold great value for our NHL picks.

Record: 55-63 (-625)

Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals

I’m going to take a shot with the Carolina Hurricanes, who are an underdog on the NHL odds on Tuesday. The Washington Capitals are one of the worst teams in the NHL and I’m not sure they should be laying this kind of juice – even at home. After all, the Caps have lost three of their last four at home. On the flip side, Carolina has won three of their last four on the road.

I see this game as a coin flip – for the most part – with Carolina being the better squad overall. That being the case, I’ll take advantage of the odds and bet against Washington.

Pick: Hurricanes +118 at Pinnacle

Phoenix Coyotes @ Vancouver Canucks

Looking at this contest with a total of five, I have a tough time believing that the Canucks should be facing a total so low right now. Vancouver is coming off an outing where they gave up eight goals to Detroit and have now allowed a total of 23 in their last six games. Both of their netminders are struggling.

Sure, they could be due for a bounce-back effort and maybe they’ll tighten up at home but I still have a tough time understanding why this total is at five and not 5.5.

Pick: Over 5 at Bovada

Winnipeg Jets @ New York Rangers

The Winnipeg Jets have won three of four with each of their last three going over, but I think that might change come Tuesday. They’ll be in New York on Tuesday playing the Rangers in their third game in four nights. The Jets are also wrapping up a four-game road trip, so they might be a little worn down.

Offense should be at a premium as the Rangers have scored just five goals in their last four games. Look for them to dictate the pace at home and keep this game under the number.

Pick: Under 5 at BetOnline
