The Tuesday NHL card is filled with eight games on the schedule. Most people will be eyeing the Vancouver-Chicago matchup but there will be a number of intriguing matchups, including the San Jose-St. Louis game, which will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network.

Here’s a look at the betting odds and our NHL picks for Tuesday:

Record: 48-52 (-322)

New York Islanders vs. Ottawa Senators

The New York Islanders are coming off a 7-0 blowout loss on Monday while the Ottawa Senators managed a 2-1 win over New Jersey. Even so, I still like the Isles as a road dog in this spot.

The overall trend of the teams has shown that Ottawa is struggling while the Isles are playing decent – especially on the road where they are 4-2-1. The NHL odds are yet to be released, but I’m anticipating good value with the Isles.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Nashville Predators

Although Pekka Rinne didn’t start on Monday, watching backup Chris Mason get blitzed for six goals showed just how valuable Rinne is to the Nashville Predators. It’s pretty clear they wanted to give him a rest so he could suit up for this contest.

Even though Nashville’s defense was awful yesterday, I like them to bounce back with a stronger effort on Tuesday. They hardly give up crooked numbers like that. The only other two times they gave up four or more goals this season they followed it up by holding their opponent to just one goal the next game. I’m going to follow that trend and expect it to carry us to an under.

Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers

Surprising as it might sound, I see a total of six for this contest at BetHeritage (also double-checked Vegas sportsbooks) and I’m definitely going to be taking the under. Neither of these teams should be seeing a six on the board unless their starting goaltenders are out and they’re playing a team like Tampa Bay. Neither is the case as the current probables are Carey Price and Henrik Lundqvist.

Most places should have this at 5.5 with juice on the under if not just five. Considering we are getting a full goal of value, I’m offering a play on the 'Under' as the final of my daily free picks.
