Take a look at a few free picks for some of tonight's biggest NHL matchups. Where do we believe that the best betting value lies for your NHL picks tonight?

It’s been a rough go of things recently as our free NHL picks have really stunk up the joint. However, if you’re fading – as a few people have mentioned to me on Twitter – then you’re in good shape. Let’s see what Tuesday holds for us:

Record: 36-45 (-876)

Dallas Stars vs. Edmonton Oilers

The Dallas Stars are riding a high as they’ve won three straight and four of five. Included in that stretch is a 3-2 overtime win in Edmonton. On Tuesday, we’ll stick with them as they are a road dog in Edmonton.

The Oilers ended their five-game losing streak in Columbus on Sunday but barely. They needed a late third period goal to steal the win as they were outshot 40-14. Take the Stars to get another win in Edmonton even though they are a dog in the eyes of the NHL odds makers.

NHL Pick: Stars +110 at Pinnacle

Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning are pretty much the same team they were last year: high scoring, weak defense, play well at home and struggle on the road. That’s evidenced by the fact that they are 5-1-0 at home and just 1-4-0 on the road. If you look at their scoring splits you’ll notice they play much better at home.

Going with that theory, we’ll take them as a small home favorite in our sports picks when they host Montreal on Tuesday. The Lightning have lost four straight but all of those games were on the road. Back at home, they should get back on track.

NHL Pick: Lightning -120 at BetOnline

San Jose Sharks vs. Nashville Predators

The San Jose Sharks have now lost five straight, which includes a 2-1 home loss to Nashville to start the streak. The main culprit here has been limited goal scoring as the Sharks have put forth just seven goals in those five contests. They actually haven’t scored more than three goals in seven straight games.

I like the under in this contest as the Predators should be able to keep them under wraps once more playing at home. Nashville has allowed just eight goals in their last seven games.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at Bet365
