The Bruins got their season on track but will they be able to carry over the momentum & get their first home win of the season with the Flyers in town tonight? Check our free NHL pick inside.

The Bruins were outscored 16-7 as they dropped three straight home games to open the season but a trip out west was just what they needed as they got back on track with consecutive wins over the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes. Now Boston will try to carry over that momentum as they look for their first home win of the season against Philadelphia. The Bruins have not looked good in front of their own audience this season, allowing at least four goals in every home game and giving up a total of 16 in three tries. Over has cashed on the NHL odds in every single game of theirs this season.

Meanwhile, the Flyers have taken a similar route to open the year only they followed up consecutive losses on the road with back-to-back wins at home over the Florida Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks. However, that momentum was dulled with a loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, so this game will represent a tough turnaround as they look for their first road win of the season less than 24 hours later.

Projected Starting Goalies
It was somewhat surprising when the Flyers went back to Steve Mason Tuesday on the heels of back-to-back shutout wins for backup Michal Neuvirth but it would be absolutely shocking if Neuvirth didn’t get the start on Wednesday. Neuvirth stopped all 61 shots he faced in consecutive shutout wins over Florida and Chicago, and at this point in the season it looks like he gives Philadelphia its best chance to win. Mason was decent last night but Neuvirth has been the better of the two so far.

Meanwhile, Tuukka Rask earned his first win of the season in a 5-3 victory over Arizona but he still gave up three goals on only 23 shots in that contest. The Bruins need Rask to be better than he has been so far early on as he is 1-3-0 with a 4.72 goals against average and .846 save percentage through four starts.

This is a tricky game to handicap for our NHL picks as both teams are a bit of a wild card right now. Both teams have gotten on track following slow starts. The Flyers have been at their best at home with Neuvirth in net but they went with Mason on Tuesday and will likely give Neuvirth the opportunity to try to steal one on the road on Wednesday. Boston bounced back on the road after three straight home losses to start the season but a slow start was expected with so many fresh faces in their lineup.

What we do know is that Boston’s games have averaged 7.8 goals per game so far this season, so over seems to be the safest call. Expect their pace of play to dictate the style and the game to go over.
