Thursday night's NHL card has 11 games on the schedule. We'll have four of them covered with two picks of the day here, and two full previews on our NHL page. Let's take a look at the odds and see where the best NHL picks can be found.

Carolina Hurricanes (13-19) @ Calgary Flames (11-19)

The Flames host the Hurricanes on Thursday at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with the opening faceoff scheduled for 9:05 PM ET. According to NHL betting odds both teams are -105 on the money line, and the posted total is 5.5.

This will be the Carolina Hurricanes 8th game in the last 13-days. You would think that kind of grueling schedule would put them at a distinct disadvantage heading into tonight. However, recent NHL history indicates otherwise, specifically when a game is being played in the first half of a team’s schedule, and both teams fall into a specific winning percentage parameter.

NHL Super System

Any road team that’s -100 to -150 on the money line in the first half of the season that’s played 8 or more games in the last 14 days, they have a money line winning percentage of .400 to .490, versus an opponent with a money-line winning percentage of .250 to .400 is 32-9 (78%) since the beginning of the 1996-1997 year.

Free Pick: Carolina -105 over Calgary

Boston Bruins (21-10) @ Edmonton Oilers (11-21)

The Oilers host the Bruins on Thursday at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with the opening faceoff scheduled for 9:35 PM ET. According to sportsbooks the Bruins are a -140 money line road favorite and the posted total is 5.0.

The Boston Bruins continue to be a stifling defensive team allowing 2-goals or less in each of their last 6-games. Edmonton comes off a high scoring 5-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in their previous game. The combination of those two factors creates an extremely strong NHL money line system that favors the home underdog.

NHL Super System

Any home underdog on the money line that comes off a game in which a combined 8-goals or more were scored, versus an opponent that’s allowed 2-goals or less in each of their last 5-games is 21-6 (77.8%) since the beginning of the 1996-1997 year. Add Edmonton to your NHL picks for this one.

Free Pick: Edmonton +120 over Boston
