There are 10 games in the NHL on Thursday and we’ve got our eye on three specific games. A couple of puck lines are on the menu as well as an over.

NHL Betting: Thursday Picks

Record: 128-145 (-864)

Phoenix Coyotes at St. Louis Blues

The Coyotes are in rough shape right now as they were shutout 4-0 at home on Monday and lead goaltender Mike Smith is day-to-day with a lower body injury. Even if he does play, Smith has given up all nine goals in the two meetings with St. Louis this year.

Phoenix is not a reliable road team as they’ve lost seven of their last nine away games. With St. Louis playing well these days, I’ll take a shot with them on the puck line. The NHL odds are too high on the money line but they’ve won both meetings by three goals this season, so it’s not unreasonable to think they can do it again.

Free NHL Pick: Blues -1.5 +165 at Pinnacle for today’s hockey betting

Carolina Hurricanes at Winnipeg Jets

The Jets are worth a look on the puck line on Thursday as they square off with the hapless Carolina Hurricanes. The Jets have won four straight and covered the puck line in three of those games.

Carolina earned a win over Boston on Saturday, but quickly reverted to their losing ways on Tuesday. Winnipeg needs this game to keep pace, so I don’t see them showing up half asleep as Boston did last Saturday.

Free NHL Pick: Jets -1.5 +180 at Bovada

Tampa Bay Lightning at Montreal Canadiens

The Habs just can’t stop the bleeding these days as they are giving up goals at an alarming pace. With the playoffs approaching, they might want to wake up or they’ll have a very limited participation in the postseason.

On Wednesday, the Habs allowed three goals in the first period alone en route to a 6-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. That comes on the heels of giving up seven to Philadelphia and five to Toronto.

On Thursday, Tampa Bay is coming to town and we should see an over if their shoddy goaltending holds up. Tampa Bay is an over team in their own right, and with Montreal contributing to the effort… we should see more than 5.5 goals.

Free NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at Bodog
