NHL Betting: Thursday Picks
Record: 70-82 (-942)
New York Rangers at New York Islanders
I think the public might side with the Rangers in this contest as they seem to have turned a bit of a corner in the Eastern Conference, but it’s hard to do given the injuries. Defenseman Marc Staal is likely out for this contest and center Brad Richards might be as well.
The Rangers were such a great road team last season but that hasn’t been the case this year. They have just two road wins, which is tied for the fewest in the NHL.
The Isles have won two straight and have won three of the last four times they’ve played host in this series.

Edmonton Oilers at Detroit Red Wings
The Edmonton Oilers are in a big funk these days as they’ve lost three straight and six of eight. They are in the midst of a ridiculous nine-game road trip and Thursday will be their sixth stop along the way.
I like how Detroit has played recently as they are 4-1-1 in their last six. Even though they have two losses in that stretch, they’ve allowed a total of just of nine goals in that span.
I don’t know the juice here but I do like the Red Wings on the puck line in this spot.

Dallas Stars at Los Angeles Kings
The Stars and Kings meet for the first time this season on Thursday and I expect this game to see at least five goals. Both sides have been doing their fair share of scoring as the Stars contests have averaged 7.2 goals per game over their last nine while the Kings have seen 23 goals in their last three.
The Kings in particular have been scoring machines as they’ve scored three or more goals in six of their last eight. With a short total of five here, I like the over this hockey pick.
