Morning NHL Odds

With 10 games on tap tonight, there's bound to be some NHL betting value we can exploit. It's time for another morning preview of the matchups and the odds as we prepare to make our sports picks

As always, there's a good mix of lines for Thursday's games, but there's one matchup that has some of the biggest chalk we've seen all season.

That would belong to the New York Rangers, as they set to host the Florida Panthers. Currently, the NHL odds have the Rangers at -265 to win, while the Panthers are available at as high of a number as +230.

New York fell to the Philadelphia Flyers the other night, but they've gone 13-6-2 at home this season and will do battle with a Panthers team that's in the basement of the Eastern Conference, one that's lost three in a row coming into tonight.

Chalk City

There are a host of other heavy favorites on the board tonight, including the Montreal Canadiens (vs. Tampa Bay Lightning), Winnipeg Jets (vs. Carolina Hurricanes), St. Louis Blues (vs. Phoenix Coyotes), and the Los Angeles Kings at home to thColumbus Blue Jackets.

The Canadiens (-170) have gone cold lately, losing three in a row, but they should be able to bounce back against Tampa Bay, who have one of the NHL's worst road records at 6-14-2. The Lightning have been struggling as well, dropping four consecutive games.

One would think Winnipeg (-170) will be able to get a win tonight as well. They're still firmly in the playoff hunt, tied on points with the Rangers, and will take a four-game winning streak into their home game with Carolina.. The Hurricanes are just 2-8 over their last 10.

The Blues (-185) are big-time chalk tonight versus Phoenix. St. Louis topped Vancouver 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday to move to 7-3 over their last 10, while the Coyotes have lost two in a row. Nonetheless, Phoenix is hardly a pushover, so there could be some value attached to the road team in this spot.

Finally there's the Kings, who are listed at -185 to win over Columbus. The Blue Jackets notched an impressive road win over Anaheim last night, but now must contend with an L.A. team that's a very nice 16-4-1 on their home ice this season.

Dallas Stars/Vancouver Canucks

We will be getting a rare NHL pick out of Swinging Johnson tonight, as he will break down Dallas and Vancouver.

This should be one of the best games of the night, as the Stars have turned the corner as of late and the Canucks are always a tough out.

Dallas is still in the hunt for a playoff spot, with four points seperating them from the eighth seed out of the Western Conference. They were beaten soundly by the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday, but had reeled off five straight wins before that.

As for the Canucks, they've gone 6-3-1 over their last 10 and their top-five defense could present Dallas with some problems.

It will be interesting to see which way Swingin[' goes with his NHL picks. The Canucks are the favorites at -130, leaving the Stars as +120 home dogs, which certainly looks appealing given the way they've been performing lately.
