There are 8 games on the ice tonight and we’ve got previews on half of them. We’ve got the Kings-Rangers matchup highlighted in its own preview & below we’ve got 3 more previews and NHL picks.
Arizona Coyotes vs. Detroit Red Wings
Odds: Red Wings -350
Arizona is one of the league’s most miserable teams as they enter Tuesday on an eight game losing streak. That’s a long one but they actually had a 10-game losing streak right before their last win. That means they have just one win in their last 19 games. On the year, they are just 7-29 against teams with a winning record. No wonder why NHL betting odds placed them as a 1.5 point road dog for this match.
Detroit has been in a bit of a funk themselves with just three wins in their last nine but this is a spot where they can get right. It’s a big line here but Arizona has lost by the puck line in three straight and four of five and seven of their last 10 losses. I’ll trust the Red Wings to get it done by two here.
NHL Pick: Red Wings -1.5 at 5Dimes
Montreal Canadiens vs. Nashville Predators
Odds: Predators -135
It doesn’t look like the Predators are through their slump yet even though they are coming off a win. That victory came over the Buffalo Sabres, who are one of the worst teams in the league. Even with the win, it was just the Predators third in their last 12 games. Pekka Rinne continues to be so-so as he’s given up 27 goals in 11 games. While that’s not bad, that’s not Vezina Trophy-type numbers, which is what he had posted earlier in the year. He’s given up 35 goals in his last 14 (2.5 goals per game) after allowing just 84 in his first 43 (1.95).
The Habs have won three straight games and Carey Price has posted back-to-back shutouts. They have more momentum in this spot and should be worth a look as a road dog in this spot. Take the Canadiens with your NHL picks here.
NHL Pick: Canadiens +117 at The Greek
Minnesota Wild vs. New York Islanders
Odds: Islanders -140
Maybe we’re going back to the wishing well here but the trends indicate that we should stick with momentum. That momentum shows that the Wild are still hot and are still playing like one of the best teams in the league. As for the Islanders, they appear to still be in their slump.
Entering Tuesday, the Isles have lost four of their last five and have dropped nine of 14. They are having a little bit of a tough time in terms of goals allowed as they’ve given up 29 goals in their last 10 games. Their offense hasn’t done much either as they’ve tallied just seven goals in their last five outings.
As for the Wild, they continue to roll as they won again on Monday. They’ve now won four of five and 10 of 13. I’ll take a shot with them as a road dog in this spot.
NHL Pick: Wild +120 at Will Hill
