Tuesday’s round of betting serves up several puck drops around the league to spot on your NHL picks. Here’s a treble of games we’re spotting on our choice picks for your consideration.

Pittsburgh vs. NY Islanders
Something is going to have to give when the Penguins and Islanders collide on Tuesday. Both come into this game looking to extend their winning form – Penguins are looking for a second straight win while the Islanders are looking to make it four in a row. By the NHL odds, the balance tips in favour of the hosts matched at -125 to -130 depending on your choice sportsbook. Penguins though are very much in it as the nominal +110 to +115 road underdogs as their playoff hopes hang in the balance.

As it is, Pittsburgh are 34-23-8 on the season with 76 points, one point ahead of Detroit in the wildcard standings. In their last ten games, they are 6-4-0 SU, which includes a remarkable 6-1 win over the Devils on the road in Sunday’s round of NHL betting. It remains to be seen whether the Penguins can back that performance up with a second straight road win over the Islanders.

They are just 3-3 SU in their last six trips around the league after all, and the Islanders are a solid 19-8-4 at home this season, not to mention riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak into this clash. Yet, if there’s one thing that might go in favour of the visitors, it’s the fact that the Islanders are coming off an arduous seven-game road trip which might take the edge off of their game somewhat, see them lose a little bit of focus with the comfort of familiar surroundings. That and the fact that they did lose their last meeting with the Penguins 5-2.

Dallas vs. Montreal
Dallas Stars look to make it three in a row when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night, but things might not be as auspicious as the NHL odds board would suggest. The Stars have the edge on the NHL odds boards as the -120 road favourites while the Canadiens are trading at Even odds (or thereabouts depending on your choice sportsbook). The Stars are coming off wins over New Jersey and Ottawa, outscoring the pair 6-3 combined, but, prior to those, they were mired in a mini-slump, riding a four-game losing streak with losses to Winnipeg, NY Rangers, Detroit and Nashville.

Of course, this turnaround is something to consider particularly when their opponents are mired in a slump of their own, riding a four-game losing streak into this clash. Yet, both teams are an identical 3-5-2 in their last ten games. That alone suggests this game could go either way. For our money, with neither side boasting convincing form, the home dogs leap off the page as the value NHL pick.

Nashville vs. Winnipeg
Nashville Predators are 7-0-3 in their last ten games, coming off a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on the road. They’ll be looking to make it two in a row when they take on the struggling Winnipeg Jets, who are a paltry 2-6-2 in their last ten and propping up the Central division. Indeed, the Predators have won six of their last seven games overall and five straight on the road.

The Jets recorded a rare win in recent weeks when they defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 on Saturday, but they followed up the performance with a lacklustre 2-1 loss to the hapless Edmonton Oilers at home the next day. With such inconsistency and unconvincing accounts, it’s impossible to look beyond the visitors on our NHL picks.
