There are 7 games on the ice tonight as we head down the home stretch. We’ve got the Tampa Bay-Montreal preview in a separate article & below we have more NHL picks for three other games.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Colorado Avalanche
Avalanche -200
The Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche meet for the second time in a week and don’t be surprised if we see another high-scoring affair. Last Wednesday, the two sides got together in Edmonton and we saw a total of seven goals. It’s a good bet that we expect to see at least six in this matchup too.

The Avs offense has been pouring it on of late as they’ve averaged 3.4 goals per game in their last seven. As for the Oilers, they’ve been even more productive at that end of the ice, scoring 29 goals in their last eight (3.6 per game). Combined with the fact that the Oilers are terrible in net and the Avs are inconsistent in that regard, I’ll look for another over in this spot.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at The Greek

Los Angeles Kings vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Kings -120
There are a total of five on the board in this one but that might be a little low given how these teams tend to play against each other. 13 of the last 18 meetings overall have gone over the number.

Of course, the Kings have been playing great defense of late as their 2.41 goals per game this month is the fifth best number in the league. However, when these teams have been faced with low totals this season, the numbers have shown that they go over. The over is 15-9 when the Kings are on the road with a total of 5 or less and the over is 7-3 when the Blackhawks are home with the same range. Each of the last eight meetings between the sides have seen at least five goals, so I’ll go over with this NHL pick.

Calgary Flames vs. Dallas Stars
Stars -170
The Dallas Stars are laying a big number in this spot but the line is simply too high. Yes, they are playing well right now and yes, they did beat Calgary in Calgary last week, but the Stars are a team that plays better away from home than at home. Also, this will be the Stars first game home after a three-game road trip and while that’s not too long, sometimes teams are flat in their first game home after a long trip.

Dallas definitely deserves to be favored as they’ve won 10 of 13 but it’s worth noting that they are 21-17 on the road compared to 16-22 at home. Calgary is 3-1-2 in their last six and has been very competitive as they fight for their playoff lives. At the very least, they’ll give a full effort and at the very most, they can win this game. Take them as a big dog on the NHL betting odds.
