Following NHL betting article. The selections in addition to handicapping analysis come in the games between Anaheim/Montreal and Edmonton/San Jose.
Anaheim Ducks vs. Montreal Canadiens 7:35 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks have gone over the total in just 39.4% of their games this season. Tonight will be the Ducks 2nd game in the last 5-days. When cast into that identical role this season, Anaheim has gone under the total in 9 of those 11-games.
The Montreal Canadiens have gone over the total in only 34.4% of their games this season. Montreal is coming off a 4-1 home win over Carolina on Tuesday. The Canadiens have seen 15 of 17-games go under the total during the past 2-seasons, following a game in which they scored 4-goals or more, and there was an average of just 4.1 goals combined scored in those contests.
NHL Totals Betting System
The NHL odds indicate that the posted total is 5.5 on this game. The Ducks are coming off a 6-2 loss at Toronto in their previous game. Montreal has won their previous 2-games by scoring of 4-1 and 6-2. The combination of all these factors creates an extremely profitable betting system which will be used in making one of my NHL picks for today.
Any road team (Anaheim) with a total of 5.5, coming off a game in which they allowed 5-goals or more, versus an opponent (Montreal) which has won each of their previous 2-games by 3-goals or more, has seen 36 of those 47-games (76.6%) go under the total since 1996.
NHL Pick: Anaheim/Montreal to go under the total of 5.5 at 5Dimes.
Edmonton Oilers vs. San Jose Sharks 10:35 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers enter this Pacific Division game tonight having lost their last 5 and 16 of the last 17-games. The Oilers have been installed as a huge +222 money line road underdog and rightfully so. Edmonton has gone an abysmal 0-14 this season as road underdog of +200 or greater, and has lost those games by an average of 2.1 goals per contest; which you should consider before placing your NHL pick. Ben Scrivens is their listed probable goaltender tonight for the Oilers. Scrivens has gone 0-6 in his starts on the road this season, and has compiled a subpar .882 save percentage in those outings.
Tonight will be the finale of a 4-game in 10-day home stand for the San Jose Sharks, and they’ve won the first 3 of those contests by outscoring the opposition 9-3. As a matter of fact, the Sharks have won 7 of their last 8 overall. Ironically enough, the only loss during that 8-game stretch came at Edmonton, and gave the Sharks the distinction of being the only team that the Oilers have defeated over their previous 17-games. That recent result will pretty much eliminate the possibility of the Sharks taking the Oilers lightly this evening in my professional opinion. Antti Niemi is slated to be in goal tonight for the Sharks. He’s gone a perfect 4-0 in his last 4-starts with an excellent .940 save percentage. Niemi was in goal for a 2-0 win over the Nashville Predators in the Sharks previous game, and earned his first shutout of the season.
NHL Betting System
Play against any money line road underdog (Oilers) of +200 or greater that’s lost 6 or 7 of their last 8-games, and they’re playing their 4th game in the last 7-days. By playing against that road team in that exact situation you would’ve gone 46-5 (90.2%) during the past 5-seasons. More importantly, the road team was at a -2.1 goal per game differential in those 51-contests. Taking this system one step further, it has gone 27-2 (93.1%) during the past 3-seasons.
NHL Pick: San Jose -1.5 (+115) over Edmonton at BetOnline
