Our resident NHL betting odds guru has three “NHL Picks of the Day” on Thursday. Join us in reading his brief analysis on each of those games, and his NHL free picks as well.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Total: Over 6.0 (-110)/Under 6.0 (-110)
These are two of the better goal scoring teams in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning is averaging a robust 3.6 goals per contest, and has gone over the total in their last 3, and 11 of their previous 13-games. The Leafs have gone over the total in 6 of their previous 7-games, and have allowed 15-goals combined in their previous 2-games. One of my NHL picks will be on the high side of the number in this matchup.

Free NHL Pick: Tampa Bay/Toronto to go over the total of 6.0

St. Louis Blues vs. Montreal Canadiens

Money Line: St. Louis -120/Montreal +100
The St. Louis Blues have a stellar .667 money line winning percentage this season, and the Montreal Canadiens have an even better .700. The Blues enter tonight having won 3 of their previous 4-games. This sets up a rare but profitable money line betting system on our NHL odds that I will utilize in making one of my NHL picks for today.

Any money line home underdog of +100 to +130, playing in the 1st half of the season, versus an opponent which has won 3 of their last 4-games, and both teams have a .600 to .700 winning percentage, has seen the home underdog go 23-8 (74.2%) since 1996.

Free NHL Pick: Montreal +100 over St. Louis

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Calgary Flames

Total: Over 5.5 (+100)/Under 5.5 (-120)
The Calgary Flames will enter tonight’s game having seen 8 of their last 9-games go over the total. The Flames have scored 4-goals or more in 7 of those 9-games, and have allowed 3-goals or more in 6 of their last 7.

The Chicago Blackhawks struggled to reach their goal scoring potential in the early part of this season. However, they’re showing signs of snapping out of it. The Hawks are averaging 3.7 goals per game over their last 6-contests. Truth be told, it was just a matter of time for the Blackhawks, considering they’re averaging 37.9 shots on goal per game. I will use the total in this game for one of my NHL picks today.

Free NHL Pick: Chicago/Calgary over the total of 5.5 at 5Dimes
