As part of this NHL handicapper's mission to profit with hockey picks, he's found the edge in two top money line selections: Red Wings/Islanders & Blackhawks/Jets contests.

Detroit Red Wings vs. New York Islanders 5:05 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at BetDSI indicates that the Islanders are a -125 money line favorite in Sunday’s game. This will be the third meeting of the season between these Eastern Conference teams. The teams split the first two and both were played in Detroit.

The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 4-0 home win over Tampa Bay on Saturday. Despite the win, they’ve gone just 4-8 versus the money line in their previous twelve games, and that includes 1-4 in the five on the road.

The New York Islanders have hit a brick wall in recent weeks, going 1-6 versus the money line in their previous seven games, and are an inexplicable 0-7 in the last seven at home. Jaroslav Halak is slated to be in goal today for the Islanders. Halak has been extremely sharp in his previous four appearances, compiling a superb .951 save percentage, and was victimized by a lack of goal scoring support..

Final Analysis
The last time these teams met was on January 31st in Detroit, and the Red Wings skated away with a 4-1 win. The Islanders have gone a perfect 7-0 during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign, playing with same season revenge, stemming from a road loss by three goals or more. They outscored those seven opponents by an average of 2.5 goals per game. My professional intuition tells me that the Islanders will come up with a huge effort today, and that’s the direction I’m going when making my NHL picks on Sunday.

NHL Picks: Play on the Islanders -125 on the money line over the Red Wings at BetDSI.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Winnipeg Jets 7:35 PM ET
According to the NHL odds at 5Dimes, Chicago is a -115 money line favorite in this game. This will be the fifth meeting of the season between these Central Division rivals, and Winnipeg has won three of the previous four. This will be my NHL Money Line Angle of the Day.

NHL Money Line Angle
Chicago is coming off a 5-2 home loss versus Columbus in their previous game. The Blackhawks have a winning percentage of .595 heading into today, and the Jets are at .520. The combination of those three factors creates a very successful money line betting angle, and I’ll use that valuable handicapping tool to make one of my NHL picks on Sunday.

Play against any road team (Chicago) that’s -100 to -150 on the money line, playing in the second half of the season, and both teams in the contest have a better than .500 win percentage. When playing against the road team in that exact situation, you would’ve gone 30-10 (75%) since the beginning of the 1996-1997 NHL campaign.
