Saturday is always a great night to bet on the NHL as there’s plenty of action on the board. This Saturday features 10 games on the card, making it the busiest day of the week in the NHL. We’ve circled our three best games, so read on below for our picks:

Ottawa Senators vs. Nashville Predators

The Ottawa Senators have been playing well over the last couple of weeks and we’ll bet on that carrying over in Nashville. The Sens have won four of their last five with their only loss being an overtime defeat in Colorado. Other than that, the Sens have defeated Boston, Washington, Winnipeg and Montreal, which are – for the most part – quality wins.

Over that same time span, the Predators have been sinking in the standings as they’ve dropped four of their last five. Overall, they’ve now lost nine of their last 12 games. The Preds continue to be victimized by poor goaltending as starting goaltender Mark Mazanec has just three wins in his last 12 outings with a 3.42 GAA.

I’ll take a flier on the Sens with my sports picks as they’re the team that’s playing better right now. You also get them as the dog in this one.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild

Even though they have some key injuries (Josh Harding, Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu), the Wild have put together a good little stretch of hockey, winning four straight heading into Saturday’s meeting with Colorado. They’ve been one of the better home teams this season as they are 16-5-2 at the Xcel Center and I expect that to be one of the key differences on Saturday night. The Avs have lost four straight on the road.

Overall, the Avs have been fading recently as they are not the same team that was shot out of a canon to start the year. They’ve lost two of three with the losses coming to the Calgary Flames and New York Islanders at home. That gives you an idea of where they’re at. Now they have to play a back-to-back after losing to the Islanders at home on Friday night and challenge a Wild team that’s been playing very well.

The Wild are not only playing better but they need this game to trim the six-point gap between themselves and the Avs in the Central Division. Look for them to put forth a good effort and get the win here.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Phoenix Coyotes

I’m going to take a shot with the Ducks here as they aren’t costing us much on the NHL odds. They’re laying about -111 on the road in Phoenix, which to me is a good price considering how these two teams are playing.

The Ducks have won 15 of their last 16 games and are just flat-out rolling. As for Phoenix, they lost their latest game – a 4-1 home loss to the Minnesota Wild – which now puts them at nine losses in their last 12 games. Their only wins have come against Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa: three non-playoff teams. I look for them to have plenty of problems with the Ducks, who are currently the best team in the NHL. Add the Ducks to your NHL picks.

NHL Pick: Ducks -111 at Pinnacle
