Saturday is an important day in the NHL as the season moves closer to winding down. We’ve rounded up our three favorite NHL betting picks, so read below to find out the selections and reasoning:
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins
Odds: Bruins -275
In this matchup, we’re just sticking with momentum as the Bruins have been playing well while the Leafs continue to be a mess. The Leafs did pick up a couple of wins at home last week but they followed it up with a road loss in Buffalo on Wednesday. The Sabres are the worst team in the NHL. If the Leafs can’t win there, how will they win in Boston?
The Bruins have some momentum right now as they’ve won four straight games. Currently they're listed as short favorites on the NHL odds and they can’t mess around here as they are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings and are just three points inside the playoffs. The Ottawa Senators are hot on their heels, so they can’t afford to slip up.
The Leafs have lost six straight on the road with five of the losses coming by two goals or more. Saturday night should be another one.
NHL Pick: Bruins -1.5 at The Greek
San Jose Sharks vs. Arizona Coyotes
Odds: Sharks -230
We’re going to go back to the wishing well with this one as we had the Sharks on the puck line last night against Arizona and we’ll aim for another win tonight. The Sharks are on a bit of roll now with four wins in their last five games. Believe it or not, they are still in the playoff hunt as they are three points out of a spot, although time is running short.
The Sharks have been a better road team (20-18) than home team this season (19-21), so I don’t think the change in venue makes that big of a deal. Arizona has just 10 wins in 39 home games this season, so it’s hard to say that they have any type of home-ice advantage. That’s the fewest home wins in the NHL.
I don’t want to lay the crazy number in this spot but I will lay the puck line with my NHL picks tonight. San Jose should take care of business for us again.
NHL Pick: Sharks -1.5 at Bodog
Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers
Odds: Flames -170
The Flames-Oilers series has trended over recently as four of the last five meetings have gone over the number. And the only game that stayed under the number totaled five goals, so the last five matchups between the teams have been high-scoring.
The Flames are the third-highest scoring team in the league since the All-Star break, averaging 3.00 goals per outing. Edmonton was shut down on a recent West Coast road trip but they’ve still averaged 4.2 goals in their last five home games.
We should see plenty of back-and-forth in this one as defense is always option with the Oilers. Look for this game to go over the number.
