Be sure to read our NHL betting preview that highlights the three best totals selections of the night. The games previewed are Carolina/Minnesota, Vancouver/Calgary & Washington/Los Angeles.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Minnesota Wild 8:05 PM ET
Total: 5.0
The Carolina Hurricanes have seen just 28.3% of their 53-games this season go over the total. The Canes are coming off a 2-1 home loss to the Anaheim Ducks in their previous game. Carolina has gone under NHL odds in all five games this season following a home one goal loss, and those contests averaged a paltry 3.2 goals per contest.

The Minnesota Wild has allowed two goals or less in seven of their previous eight games. Much of that stinginess can be attributed to the stellar play of goaltender Devan Dubnyk who started in all eight of those games. During that stretch, Dubnyk has compiled an excellent .959 save percentage, and posted three shutouts.

Free NHL Pick: Play on Carolina and Minnesota to go under the total of 5.0 at Bodog

Vancouver Canucks vs. Calgary Flames 10:05 PM ET
Total: 5.0
The Vancouver Canucks have failed to see any of their eight previous games stay under the total.  They scored five goals in four of those eight, and also allowed four or more on four separate occasions during that stretch.

The Calgary Flames have scored three goals or more in five of their previous six games. The Flames are averaging 3.2 goals per outing in 23-games versus division opponents this season.

Free NHL Pick: Play on Vancouver and Calgary to go over the total of 5.0 at BetOnline.

Washington Capitals vs. Los Angeles Kings 10:05 PM ET
Total: 5.0
The Washington Capitals have scored three goals or more in nine of their previous twelve games. The Capitals will once again go with Braden Holtby between the pipes tonight. Holtby enjoyed a recent red-hot stretch, but has cooled off in his last two starts, evidenced by a poor .873 save percentage in those outings.

The Los Angeles Kings have gone over the total in each of their previous three games, and scored four goals or more in all of those contests. The Kings have also amassed a combined 89-shots on goal during their previous two games. Tonight’s probable starter in goal will be Jonathan Quick, and he hasn’t seen any of his previous four starts stay under the total while compiling a shaky .880 save percentage. Numbers won't lie, therefore the over is our NHL pick tonight.

Free NHL Pick: Play on Washington and Los Angeles to go over the total of 5.0 at Pinnacle Sports
