We are down to a week to go in the NHL regular season and there is still so much to be determined. Today we have betting odds on five important contests and we whittled it down to three NHL picks.

Maybe you forget, but I cannot remember so many playoff contenders losing to teams that have no chance at the postseason like this year in the last 10 days. Will it continue, hard to say, but we will have our eyes peeled on checking out the results against NHL odds this week.

Here is our breakdown and after another winning day Sunday, we go after 10 of the past 15 days.

St. Louis Goes for Tie with Dallas for Best in the West
For St. Louis (47-32 SU) to be top seed in the Western Conference, they have to win out and hope Dallas stumbles at least once, because if they are tied, the Stars currently hold the tiebreaker. Overcoming aberration against Boston in 6-5 loss, the Blues destroyed Colorado 5-1 yesterday and return home to face Arizona (35-43 SU).

Since giving up 17 goals in three straight contests, St. Louis has reverted to who they are and even if you include the half dozen the Bruins tallied, the Blues have allowed eight goals in winning six of seven. (That is two goals surrendered in wins if you are keeping score at home.)

Tip of the hat to Arizona, who after losing nine of 10 starting Feb.20, could have packed it in like other teams, yet has been victorious in seven of 11. The Coyotes are +190 road underdogs and which Mike Smith in goalie might have a lot to do with outcome. Smith has 1.29 goals-against average in his last seven starts, but in last six games versus St. Louis, is at an unsightly 3.90 GAA. Expect Blues to move to 21-7 against Arizona of late.

Rangers Rebound in Columbus
New Yorker's are never afraid to say what is on their mind and with the Rangers (43-35 SU) losing a third consecutive contest to Buffalo of all teams by the score of 4-2 on Saturday, the boos were cascading down to the Madison Square Garden ice. Once thought to be a lock for second place in the Metropolitan, the Rangers could fall to wild card if they keep losing and the hated Islanders keep winning.

The Blueshirts will turn to netminder Henrik Lundqvist to return to form after dreadful showing against Sabres and in his past five starts against Columbus (31-47 SU) he has 1.78 GAA with a 5-0 record.

The Blue Jackets are expected to have Sergei Bobrovsky between the pipes and that is good for New York as -145 road favorites, since he is 3-8-2 when facing them. The Rangers have won six straight over Columbus and the Blue Jackets have dropped five in a row against winning teams.

Florida Maintains Lead with Triumph in Toronto
It has been a season to remember for first place Florida (44-34 SU), but long time veteran Jaromir Jagr feels the Panthers are now just about to get started.

Florida is going back to the postseason and want to do so as division champions and as the No.2 seed. The 44-year old Jagr came back to play with the Panthers because he liked the composition of young players on the team and though he's played in more than four times as many playoff games than Florida has as a franchise (202 vs. 38), we wants to be their leader.

With Tampa Bay players in shock with the loss of Steven Stamkos, Florida tries to open three-game Canada road trip in Toronto (28-50 SU) with a victory as -165 favorites. With the Maple Leafs 16-47 facing winning teams and losers of seven of nine versus the Panthers, Florida should be the wise choice for your NHL picks.
