There are 13 games on Saturday with a slew of early games to consider with our NHL picks. If you’re getting in on some ice hockey betting action, make sure you take note of these games.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Detroit Red Wings
NHL Odds: Red Wings -125
The Tampa Bay Lightning are not as strong on the road as they are at home (where they have collected the most wins this season) but they’re still worth a look in this spot on Saturday. The Lightning have won four of five and eight of 11, and roll into Saturday’s game in generally good spirits. As for Detroit, this is a team that’s completely lost their way in the month of March, dropping two straight and eight of their last 11 games. The bigger concern – at least recently – has been their defense and goaltending, which has hit a wall. The Red Wings have given up 11 goals in their last two games and the opponents they faced weren’t particularly strong either (Arizona and San Jose). In the month of March, only two teams have given up more goals per game than the Red Wings 3.50. Now they’re up against the best offense in the NHL. That being the case, I’m going to take a flier with the Lightning as a road dog.

Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
NHL Odds: Senators -200
The Toronto Maple Leafs have basically stopped scoring as they are just waiting for their disastrous season to come to an end. They’ve scored just eight goals in their last six games and with the news of two of their offensive players fighting in practice, it’s not likely things get any better. They are scoring just 1.77 goals per game this month, which is the third-worst number in the league.
The Senators have had some issues in net with Andrew Hammond over their last four games but prior to that, he had been fantastic between the pipes. Considering the opponent on Saturday, I expect him to have a much better effort. The Maple Leafs don’t have much of a pulse these days.
NHL Pick: Under 5.5 at Pinnacle
Dallas Stars vs. Vancouver Canucks
NHL Odds: Canucks -155
The Stars had an off night last night as they were shutout 3-0 by the Edmonton Oilers. Considering this is one of the highest scoring teams in the league, we can expect them to bounce back as underdogs in tonight's NHL odds. Even including that loss, the Stars have still won nine of their last 12 games.
The other factor here why I like the Stars as a road dog is they have had Vancouver’s number of late. They’ve won three straight in Vancouver and seven of the last eight meetings overall.
The line here is too high on the Canucks as the Stars are a fairly decent road team. They are 20-17 on the road compared to 16-22 at home. Take the Stars with your NHL picks here.
