Here are our valuable NHL picks as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue with 2 possible elimination games today with Capitals vs. Rangers, and Ducks vs. Flames.

New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals - Capitals Lead 3-2
The Caps were less than 2 minutes away from winning the Series at MSG......

I could see the Capitals, the team in the prime position to win this series, being a bit afraid after Chris Kreider scored the game tying goal with just 1:41 remaining in the 3rd period to keep the Rangers playoff hopes alive and then Ryan McDonagh scoring the game winning goal at 11:23 in overtime for the Rangers. If the Rangers can somehow win tonight's game, game 7 will be going back to MSG and that place would be going bananas.

Elite Goaltending
That's what this series has been all about as Braden Holtby and Henrik Lundvist have dominated the series. Game 5 was the first time that Holtby showed any sign of vulnerability as he faced 43 shots and I think that will carry over to this game and possibly a game 7.

The Rangers have the best record in the NHL this season and have a lot to lose. They also participated in the Stanley Cup last year, therefore they have a lot of things working for them. Neither leading goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin or Rick Nash, has been a factor in this series. King Henrik and Braden Holtby have been displaying some of the best goaltending that you'll ever see. Lundvist has yet to win a Stanley Cup and he's a hall of fame goaltender. He can't let these opportunities fly by and by the way he was barking out orders to his defense in game 5 after the Kreider goal, I don't expect him to let anything get by. Look for the Blueshirts to take this series back to Madison Square Garden for a game 7.

Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks - Ducks Lead 3-1
It seems the Flames' spirit has been broken.

Game 4 was the key game in this series and now the Flames would have to beat the Ducks 3 consecutive games to advance in the playoffs. This is not going to happen.

Calgary had their chance when they got off to a a 2-1 lead in game 4 on goals by Sean Monahan and Micheal Ferland, but the Ducks managed to outscore the Flames 3-0 the rest of the way on the road. Matt Beleskey isn't the best player on the Ducks roster, but he seems to find a way to score when the Ducks need it as he notched his 4th playoff goal on the power play in the 3rd period to give Anaheim a 3-2 lead at the time.

Keep in mind when preparing your NHL picks, Corey Perry is the go-to guy on the Ducks as he had 4 shots on goal in game 4, but it was the role players that came through for Anaheim along with the goaltending of Frederik Andersen as Andersen was the 3rd star of the game.

There's really not much to say here. Anaheim is at astronomical NHL odds because Calgary's spirit as been broken and this series is headed back to the Pond for the home town Duck fans to see their team win this series. If Calgary couldn't win game 4 with a lead, they certainly won't win game 5. I dislike laying all of this juice, but it's the obvious play.
