Which games are we targeting in our NHL picks of the day article? Come see which two teams we like most here on Monday, as well as a brief recap of Sunday.

Sunday's NHL Playoff Action
The Islanders outlasted the Capitals 2-1, while Nashville fell short in Game 3 up in Chicago. Later on Sunday, Montreal picked up a huge victory over Ottawa on the road, and Calgary took care of business at home against the Canucks.

As you can see, three favorites won, with the only underdog victory coming from the Canadiens (+105).

Monday's Picks
There are two games that we will be looking at closely for Monday. We start in Pittsburgh.

New York Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
It's hard not to like the Penguins at plus money when they're at home and have the best player in hockey on their side. Sidney Crosby and company did what they needed to do in getting at least one road win (Game 2), and now they need to stay focused as they return to home to go 2-1 up in the series.

However, the NHL betting odds makers have New York as the favorites, as they think the Rangers will be up for getting some immediate revenge. The Rangers will want to take back control of the series, and they've shown throughout the regular season that they're a force to be reckoned with. The Presidents' Trophy winners have been grinding out wins all year long and should be up for the challenge again tonight.

But, we just cannot turn down this chance to side with the Penguins at such an appealing price. They've gone through some downs this season, as every team does, but there's no doubting the level of talent these guys possess. They were solid at home (23-13-4) and will be happy to have the rowdy crowd behind them this evening. Back Pittsburgh to get the win and move up 2-1 in the series.

Stanley Cup Betting Trends You Should Know About

St. Louis Blues vs. Minnesota Wild
The Wild are in a very similar position as Pittsburgh tonight, as they grabbed one win on the road to take control of the series. However, we are going a different way with our hockey picks and instead backing the visiting Blues to respond in kind.

Looking at the NHL odds, we see the Wild favored at -130, with St. Louis quoted at +115. The series is all even at one apiece, this after St. Louis redeemed themselves a little bit with an emphatic Game 2 win after getting beat 4-2 in the opener. The Blues ran away from the pack as one of the elite teams in the Western Conference once again, but they now find themselves in a hole, needing to pick up at least one victory in Minnesota.

The Wild have other ideas though and have quickly made a statement that they intend not to go down easily. The playoffs are here and anything can happen, and a lot of times in the NHL playoffs we find out that seeding matters little. A team can pick up momentum so easily and there is far less disparity than in the other major leagues, that it makes the postseason that much more interesting: anything that can truly happen.

For Game 3 tonight though, we really like St. Louis to bounce back immediately and show why they were the higher seed. The Blues were 24-12-5 on the road throughout the regular season, so they know what it takes to perform in an uncomfortable environment. Will St. Louis relish this chance and re-gain control? We believe so, and thus we will add the Blues to our NHL picks for what should be another exciting night of playoff hockey. Enjoy the games!

NHL Pick: Take the Blues at +115 at Bet365
