The home teams are in desperate need of a win as both the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames are down 2-0 in their respective series. These are must win situations. Are they up to the task on this Cinco de Mayo as the prospect of being down 3-0 appears to be a no win situation?

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Minnesota Wild - Blackhawks Lead 2-0

Offense is Mandatory For the Wild to Win
Minnesota knows that their offense will have to step it up as Chicago has one of the best defenses in the league. If this game is a low scoring game like the previous ones, the Blackhawks will win.Corey Crawford has provided solid goaltending, stopping 60 out of 64 shots and it's confirmed that he will be in net tonight for Chicago.

Devan Dubnyk had a fantastic regular season, but this is the playoffs; a place where the Blackhawks excel. Thus far Dubnyk has allowed an average of 3.5 goals in the 2 previous games and against the way that the Blackhawks defense has been playing, that just won't cut it.

I know thart it's only been 2 games, but Nino Niederreiter has been shut out against Chicago and previous to that, he owned the St. Louis Blues. Zach Parise (4 goals and 5 assists in 9 games) and assist man, Mikael Granlund (1 goal and 2 assists in his last 5 games) can't do it all by themselves. Minnesota will need a solid team effort in this game or they'll easily be 1 game away from elimination.

Patrick Kane
With the help of defenseman, Duncan Keith, Patrick Kane has dominated this series and has been a beast in the playoffs as he's coming off of a 2 goal game, scored a goal in each of his last 3 games, and has 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. Aside from their objective of more offense, Minnesota must put a lid on Kane as he's been killing the opposition.

This game is too important for Minnesota to lose and I'm going to side with the Wild at home. The odds back it up and make Minny your NHL pick.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames - Anaheim Leads 2-0

Domination By Andersen
The Calgary Flames really give the bettor no reason to select them as their pick as the Ducks have dominated this series behind the goaltending of Frederik Andersen. Anaheim's offense has produced 69 shots on goal in 2 games and have outscored the Flames 9-1. We know that we're going to get good NHL odds if backing the Ducks as this game will be played in Calgary.

Andersen has been the star of this series, but you can expect more of the same from guys like Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, who are both coming off of 2 assist games along with Matt Beleskey. Beleskey has potted a goal in each game of this series and that's his specialty. Even if Calgary puts up a fight, the Ducks are too strong and well rounded a team to stop.

Calgary was the 6th top scoring team in the regular season this year but you wouldn't know it as Andersen has had an answer for everything that they have had to offer.

Leading scorer, Jiri Hudler, was coming off of a 4 point performance against Vancouver in a 7 goal outburst by the Flames, but they've been invisible against the Mighty Ducks. I expect the Flames to put up a better effort in game 3, but until Andersen shows any sign of weakness, I'm siding with the Ducks.
