Last night we took a chance on a bigger favorite and it paid off for our followers as the Chicago Blackhawks controlled the Dallas Stars just as we said they would.  The inconsistent Stars never mounted a serious threat as the Hawks skated to a 3-1 victory.

Tonight the NHL only has two games to choose from so we'll go North of the border for our selection but first let look at some future odds that give you a great chance to cash tickets.

Future Odds

The bookmakers have finally caught on to the Pittsburgh Penguins as they are the rightful favorite to win the Stanley Cup in most spots but one term in betting that I'm not a fan of is the word 'value'.  There's no value in ripping up losing tickets and the Pittsburgh Penguins are the best team in hockey right now.  You can still get them at 7.5/1 and that's still good enough to jump on. Too often you have bettors who try to find the best odds on a team they think can win the Cup.  I'll stick with shorter odds on a team that I KNOW can and has won the Cup. The best odds can be found here.

Right below the Penguins are the Philadelphia Flyers who have won nine straight and sit in the number two spot in my power rankings.  You could go a couple ways with them as they are still the fourth choice to win the Metro as they currently sit just two points behind the New York Rangers. The Flyers are returning 8/1 to win the division. If you play both the Flyers and the Penguins at +210 to win the Metro you have two strong dogs in the fight. The Flyers are a generous 12/1 to win the Eastern Conference and 22/1 to win the Stanley Cup.

Third, it's time to look at the Columbus Blue Jackets as legit contenders.

 Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens

Tonight we head to the biggest rivalry in the NHL when the Bruins and Canadiens face-off at the Bell Centre.

If I'm the Boston Bruins and I have any hopes of catching the Canadiens for the division lead this is a must win.

Boston is currently nine points behind Montreal.

The Habs scored 10 goals against Colorado for a recent two-game total of 15.  The Canadiens have risen steadily up my power rankings to 5th but it's worth a bet on Boston who will give their best effort tonight. Either Rask steals the game or the Bruins can start thinking about playoff position rather than winning a division.
