John Tavares Nets Two In Road Win Over San Jose – Lose to Kings
Wednesday night the New York Islanders grabbed a big 4-2 road win over the slumping San Jose Sharks and the game got off to a quick start for them as John Tavares scored the first of his two goals just 36 seconds into the game. He then finished the game just like he started it as he scored his second goal of the game on an empty net with just five seconds left. Tavares now has seven goals on the year and he leads the team in points with 13.

Getting the win for the Islanders was Thomas Greiss, who is now 4-3 with a 2.39 GAA on the year. The Islanders have a game on Thursday night in Los Angeles and Jaroslav Halak should start that game, meaning that Greiss will get the start here and he is 1-5 with a 2.72 GAA in his career vs the Ducks. The Islanders check in at 13th in the league in scoring (2.8 gpg) and 7th in power play conversions (22%), while at the defensive end they are 7th in goals allowed (2.4 gpg) and 3rd on the penalty kill (88.2%).

Corey Perry Nets Two In Loss To The Oilers
The Anaheim Ducks looked as if they were starting to put it all together as they had a four game win streak heading into back-to-back home games with Arizona and Edmonton. Well the Ducks lost both games in OT to teams that will likely miss the playoffs his year. In the loss to Edmonton the Ducks did have a 3-2 lead before the Oilers tied it with 11 minutes to go in the game. Scoring two of the goals for the Ducks was Corey Perry, who now has four on the year.

Frederik Andersen took the loss in the game vs the Oilers and he is now 3-5-4 with a 2.33 GAA on the year. Andersen should get the start in this one and he is 2-0 with a 2.51 GAA vs the Islanders in his career. The Ducks had a miserable start offensively this year and while they have picked it up of late they are still ranked last in the league in scoring at 1.7 gpg, while on the defensive end of the Ice they are 13th in goals allowed, giving up 2.3 per game.

New York: 2-7 in their last nine games playing on 0 days rest 1-4 in the last five meetings in Anaheim

Anaheim: 5-0 in their last five vs. Eastern Conference 4-1 the last five meetings in the series overall

I like the Ducks in this one. They are off a couple of bad OT losses at home to Arizona and Edmonton and this looks like a good spot for them to get back on track vs an Islanders team that is playing with no rest. The Islanders have also not played well in this series of late and overall they have struggled as they have won just two of their last seven games. Anaheim bounces back strong here.
